Brown Bear, I know Marty he is a good guy and he is going to tell you what you want to hear just be leary. Marty can direct traffic to any puddle that is open, where the other owners will have to level with you. I would bet the south end of Lake of Bays and smaller lakes may very well be open. I know Sturgeon will still be locked up for some areas for the opener, and some of the camps are letting their guests know accordingly. I would check with young lake lodge that would be a really good indicator in the silver dollar area of what is going on.
good luck all, may the ice melt before your bow.

As of Wednesday ice was tight to shores but creeks inlets are opening things up. I will know more tomorrow as we are calling camp owner in morning. We were supposed to go u for the opener but moved back to the 25th. What camp are you staying at we are at Maries Bay a boat in outpost camp on the north end.
Just confirmed what Al just wrote about Cedar Lake lodge. Talked to Ray at Cedar Point Lodge and he said with Tomorrow's expected 20 mph winds Cedar should be clear by Tuesday. Certainly no problem for opener as well as Friday for those camps that open one day prior to opener.
Cedar Lake ice conditions as of May 9th/13
The first picture is taken from the bridge at the north end of Nelson Lake.
The second pcture is taken at the Cedar Lake Lodge Landing.
The 3rd picture is taken from Hwy 105 looking across to Cedar Lake Lodge Island.
There's a big change today as the ice is more of a uniform grey color.
If we're lucky we might have ice out next week sometime!!!
Channel is open a few hundred yards out into the first lake, second narrows has a small channel opened up into the second lake. Mostly ice from that point north would be my guess.
Waubaskang from Gawleys Camp taken on May 9, 2013.
Taken by Dave from Peffley's Resort.
