Any advice on the best scope to go with a 30 06 for whitetail hunting?

In my opinion, I think Sightron scopes are clearer and overall better optics than Leupold, especially if you compare dollar for dollar. The Sightron SII 3x9x42, at around $250.00 is an great value, with a great warranty, and would be a good match for your WI deer rifle.

lots of great scopes out there. I have heard great things about the Redfield Revolution.

I recommend Schmidt Bender, US Optics, Nightforce, and Trijicon. If money is a concern look at Pentax, Nikon, Leupold, Meopta, or Sightron. If you are shooting 100 yards or less almost any scope will work fine.

Actually most of the cheaper scopes have a "no fault" replacement warranty. When the scope costs them $5 to make and they sell it for $100 it's easy to replace them for free. Yes if you break any scope your hunt is over (actually when I go out of state I have two scope pre-sighted in on Talley lever rings so I would just swap out the scope) but the point is that the quality scopes don't seem to break as often as the low priced ones. Vortex aren't a bad scope, a little over priced IMHO for what they are but not bad.

Ditto, drop and break any scope and your hunt is over!!! My point is, if you break your Vortex scope, send it in and they will replace it. Just another extra feature that no other optic company offer. They are extremely clear and bright and are a great value.

IMO a great warranty doesn't mean a thing when your scope breaks on a hunt. Sure they will replace it but that doesn't do you any good for the remainder of the hunt.

Don't forget about Vortex. They are a family owned company based out of Middleton WI. They make scopes in all power and price ranges. They have the absolute best warranty in the business. 100% unconditional lifetime warranty. If you break it, send it in and they will fix it or replace in at NO CHARGE!!! No other optic company can compare. www.vortexoptics.com

I have five rifles with Leupold scopes. I usually use one with a VariX III 1.5 X 5 or a VariX II 2 x 7 for hunting in WI.

No one ever looks at their rifle and says "Gee I sure wish I had bought a cheaper scope". I really like my Leupold, 3-9 x 50 mm. It's not completely fogproof though, especially on those 100% humidity, foggy / rainy days.

I love Leupold. I tried some of the cheap ones before and will never go back. They either broke or are terrible in lower light conditions. Get a Leupold.

I have a Burris full field 2 scope. It's a 4.5 to 14 power scope. Crystal clear scope and nice in low light conditions.

If you have money go all out, but for bang for the buck I would go with Leupold, Nikon, or Redfield which I believe is made by Leupold. I've made the mistake of going with a cheap scope before and I would recommend spending good money on one.

Tigerhawk, Scopes have come a long way. The Main question is probably economics and you can now find a really good scope in the $200!range. If price is no object, Look at Leupold, Zeiss and others. If price is important, I would take a serious look at Redfield; great optics, owned by Leupold and also has a lifetime guarantee. Nikon and others are also great. We put a Redfield on my sons last year and really like it. For use anywhere, I haven a preference of 3-9 power and only a 40mm objective so it can be mounted closer to the barrel. Good luck and let us know what you choose. Then get it mounted properly, bore sighted, zero it in and enjoy.
