Big Game Hunting
Javelina hunting

Just wanted to put a warning out there for everybody. If youre planning on doing a big game hunt with an outfitter, please do your research. In 2012, I went on a javelina hunt that I purchased through a SCI banquet dinner. Thought it would be a reputable outfitter, I was wrong. I've been on various big game hunts with different outfitters, this was by far the worst! When my hunting partner and I arrived in camp, it was littered with garbage and beer cans. We were awake and ready to go every morning before the guides. The food was just terrible. They said there would be pigs all over the place! We found one small herd the whole trip. I harvested my javelina, but the meat and hide were ruined. They did not have any salt or coolers to properly care for the game harvested. Eventually, the hunt ended and we left. Well, the outfitter left the carcass hanging in a tree and a game warden later discovered it. The outfitter didnt claim any responsibility and therefore it all came back to me! I'll just leave it at that. I also for got to mention, the day before the hunt was to start, I called ahead to find out where to meet the outfitter. He forgot that I was even coming! So form one outdoorsman to another, just do your homework! There are plenty of great outfitters out there willing to work their hardest for you. If you need any references for different outfitters for various game, id be happy to throw you some names to steer you in the right direction.

Just curious.. Has anyone done any Javelina hunting?? Are tags easy to purchase or get? What are best states to hunt them? Is there public or widlife management areas to hunt them? Any tips would help. I would like to go out and hunt them sometime. Done plenty of hog hunting and love that just wondering about some javelina...

I did report it back to SCI. They said they wouldn't accept their hunt donations anymore, but said ey couldn't do anything beyond that. Their response discouraged me from SCI. Their motto is first for hunters, than why couldn't they do anything else than? The outfitters name is Rincon Outfitters from Tuscon, AZ. I was informed that these guys have had issues before I had problems with them. That would've been nice to know before I bought the hunt!
