In the past year the A-Rig has become the next top lure in the sport of Bass fishing. Over Christmas I took a trip down to TN to visit family. The day before we arrived my dad took second place in a Tourny, missed frist place by 1oz and beat third place by 5lbs. He used the A-rig, which I never heard of, so he brought it in to show me and I thought it was a joke. The Alabama Rig is not a joke it catches fish, lots of fish, in one day between My dad, my brother and I. We caught 6 bass over 5lbs, 2 over 6lbs, I caught my personal best at 6lb 15oz 22 inches long, and my brother caught a 15lb 33" striper! Anyway I haven't heard or seen the A-Rig up here in WI has anyone ever heard of it or used it? What are your thoughts?

The A Rig will work here just as well as anywhere else in the country. Bass are bass. Even with 3 baits it should be effective. Like any bait conditions will dictate how effective it is. Clear to moderate stained water, rocks to sparse vegetation, and stable weather. I don't think its got to be warm water just stable weathr. Water temps 50 or so and above.

A-rigs work better down south where bass tend to school more. Good luck having much success with these in Wisconsin.

Anything perceived as that effective has to be ILLEGAL IN WISCONSIN. It would be too much fun to be allowed. A Wisconin warden advised that a lure is considered a lure whether or not it has a hook. so if one trolls or casts an alabama rig with 2 teasers and 3 lures with hooks, a warden may deem this as fishing with 5 lures. Please correct me if this is in error. Wistex

Used it on Geneva in Oct and Nov with great results. I rep for a few tackle companies, and nearly every retailer of mine can't keep soft bodied swimbaits in stock. The A-Rig is for real ,and if you can throw it, do it, or you will be just be a donator. In WI though you are limited to three hooks. I throw three hooks and two teasers. One of the better ones for situation's like ours where every state around us and WI has different reg for this bait is this guy http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/ABT_Lures_Multi_Rig_System_55/descpage-ABTSR.html Check the video out too on this page, pretty neat system.
