Got a question. IS there any advantage to switching to a back tension release over regular trigger release? I do not have target panic, and can shoot good consistantly, but would like to improve if possible. I shoot a lot and usually avg a 315 in outdoor 3-d shoots(out of 360) with my hunting set up. Has anyone improved their shooting by switching? Thanks GS

Ditto, I believe if everyone was to actually commit to it they would have possitive result, problem is most just cant put the bow down or take the sight off the bow for a month to learn how to shoot BT. I spent 3 months over the winter about 4 years ago self teaching myself after a bunch of reading. shot a little better when I decided it was time to put the sight on, went 2 years and wasnt satisfied, started asking alot of question, and kept reading, the winter before last, I went back at the form and blank baling and short game. last summer i shot alot better, shot my local courses 20 to 30 up, tougher courses that I struggled on it was mostley because my yardage judging isnt the greatest. Shot my 1st outdoor yesterday, out of 30 target I only pushed 2 right or left of the 10 by a little bit, Line was darn good all day..judging sucked lol! but that should get better after a few outdoors. just got to accustomed over the winter to known yardage indoors.

One of the best 3D guys I ever new from Wisconsin was a "puncher" also but he had so much will power it was unbelievable. For 99% of us a BT will allow us to shoot better, provided you give it a real chance.

MP, I think you mis-took my post. I'm agreeing with you that BT releases are very good. Yes it's a commitment and we've all seen the guy try one for a couple shots and say they could never shoot it again. But if they would shoot it for a month their scores would go up.

ditto, i can show you bunch who have. ones who couldnt even come close to shooting a 300 on a 5 spot, now shoot 300 50s....its not giving a honest try...Its committing to it! no more wrist rockets for me, even it I never 100% master..i know im not punching,I know my scores are up quite a bit..its all about commitment..something alot of shooters dont want to do.

Wack, go to some Big shoots with GOOD shooters...look what and how there shooting, being a wrist rocket,hinge,thumb...then tell me BT is over rated! I can think of 1 real good tournament PRO whos a puncher he admits it..but he can pull it off! All I can say about me, is my shooting improved a ton when I finally got BT kind of down, went from a puncher shooting down on easier courses to shooting 20 to 30 up on easier courses and 10+ up on hard courses. Nothing better then staring at the spot you want to hit..and not thinking about nothing else (no trigger) just aim and 12ring!

I would go to archery talk and ask "Nuts & Bolts" before anyone on here. too much arguing here.

A 315 score doesn't mean a thing without knowing what the course is. On some courses a 315 will win and on other courses a 315 is only average. I've yet to see a person who really gave a BT release an honest try not improve their score.

Dumbest info you ever posted WackJack!!! you obviously have no clue whatsoever?? Since 90% of shooters who use a Wrist Rocket (most will deny they punch) are trigger punchers, driveby shooters ect..you comment is completly stupid!!! BT has a advantage over punching...think you need to get out and shoot against some guys who shoot BT. see how you stack up. And yes any release can be shot with BT....just 99% of wrist rocket shooters dont use BT. While your worried about the pin, the target and punching that trigger...I just let my subconsious put the pin in the middle..keep on piunching on!! Big Smile see yah on the 3d course!

315 doesn't really mean much because there are such different courses. Some courses you need to pretty much shoot clean to compete and the next one you can drop a bunch and still win. Unless it's something like spots it's hard to compare but there is always room to improve and a BT release will help you shoot better if you dedicate yourself to using it. I remember when I shot spots there was one guy who shot 300's all the time in the high 40's or low 50 X's. I showed him my Carter one day and he said "why should I switch since I'm already shooting 300's" I then asked him how many 60x's he shot? a week later he had a Carter!
