Did some trolling on Saturday, with little action. Went several miles on yellow river side, had a couple hits but no fish. They were not hungry for shads or crawler harnesses. Went out today looking for panfish, we anchored up out of the wind and found some nice gills

3 cats and whitebass in front of the lil yellow this morning. Not much going on in all the other spots we tried.
Out with clients yesterday trolling for walleyes with number 5 flicker shads on the yellow river side and ended upwith 4 walleyes and some whitebass on the cranks. We had one fish hit the bait and pulled the board under and got off, it looked like a big northern or maybe a muskie, it was big. We also did some jigging in the afternoon with only one cat to show for our efforts.

Bobcrappies how long did you cook them on the grill they looked good ?
leave the scales on....white bass, crappies, walleye's use any fish .........
Yea, that was a new one for me... grilled Walleye and such before, but always on foil and in butter and such. That looks really good. I'm pretty sure you would leave the scales on?
Wish I lived close to a water like that.

Ice fishing for perch is a real hit or miss type of gig on CR. When you do find them you can get some nice ones........but they aren't everywhere. Sometimes I find them shallow in 9-12' of water near structure like wood or drop offs, other times it has been over the expansive flats on the east side of the lake. Usually I find only a few and then I can't seem to get anymore than that. Good luck and move alot if you really want to find them, early mornings always seems best for me as well!

Hey Guys,
I know its early but I'm already excited for ice. Does anyone have experience ice fishing for perch out here? I've been coming up for 13 years and still no perch. I just want to say i caught 1 at this point. I want to get one this ice season even if it means a guide.

Welcome to the area.
If you search on the Castlerock or Petenwell threads, there is a post from Old Bengal that surfaces every once in a while. If you can find it, it will be a good place to start. If you cannot find it, PM me. I may have saved it and can email it. Also read back at least a few pages and you will get a bit of info.

Hi,
I have been visiting Castle Rock for the last 3 years. In-Laws have a condo there. We have been fishing on the eastern side of the Buckhorn over the last two weeks and doing really well. However the fishing last week turned off. I was looking for the advice for where the fish have moved. Willing to trade hot spots for any help.
Thanks.
