Tuffy I was LOL at your post Smile I have been getting out for about an hour a day and catching some giant gills, a few whitebass and some small bass. I have not figured the perch out yet but I am going to try tomorrow. I have been staying pretty much on the north side and working the shorelines. I really think I am missed a good bite some where out in the middle of the lake but I just dont know where to even start.

Pimpin, I tend to gush in my posts as well (when I do well), but I'll also give some info on how I caught them. That's all I was looking for. Smile Keep having fun with the family, that's what it's all about.

This is actually a post regarding the river but I thought more people would read it if I put it here... I got a call from my ex wife today she lives in our old house on the river and she said Walleyes are floating all over the river. She doesnt like to call me and she wouldnt have said anything unless there was something major going on so I went and checked it out and sure enough there are eyes floating dead all over the place. I am not sure what happened I have never seen anything like this - saw one that was near 30 inches! Any ideas on what happened? Justin

Your ex-wife shot them?

You're right tim,,,I should help ya. Here is my advise. Try going out and finding them,,they are bitting on third chunks of crawlers the last two times we were out,,three way rigs,,in close,,,and you have to have a bit of patience. You see Tim,,,when your finace gets to have the time of her life catching big perch non stop with 2 8 year old twins and a 11 year old to boot,,that you might have your hands full baiting hooks,,removing fish,,tying lines and spending time with family while there was very far and few people around,,,,I watched the weather,,got a few inside tips from a locl bait shop and made my own judgement call on where to fish. ON SHORE. Gold hooks,,light line,,and a world of patince with so much going on at once,,did not expect BD to bless us like that but I guess for my 5th time out fishing this year due to responsibilities,,,we must have done well according to your comments. Follow your insight,,,you might just catch one. Cat was 25.75 inches biggest perch was 11.75,,,most were 9-10 inches . BUG hatch was crucial,,,zipped em open when I got home and there is a reason they are where they are. Right time right place,,,did not know it was illegal to have a good time with familly. Peace out son. Wink

Team One, how about some usable info, instead of the personal gushing about how much fun you had. That really doesn't help anyone out.

We rocked yesterday and today. Captain Crappie, Team One Groupie and entourage the girls pulled in roughly 40 perch, catfish, bullheads, white bass were among the mix. Fish were slamming left and right; almost all caught were one right after another. It was exhillirating last two days! Personally this is the first time I caught this many fish at one time in such a short time span; I even kicked Captain Crappie's %&*#Smile

Can't wait for next weekend; hopefully they'll still be on!

Went out today for a couple of hours with my 6 year old. We started by the tressel and had bites right away but the wind was so strong we just couldnt hold boat position. So we moved and worked down hickory point. We caught a few very big white/yellow bass and then my lil guy wanted to try for pike. We went pike fishing for an hour and had a mid 30s slam a bass jig right at the boat but it fell off.

We also went down to the river for about 1/2 hour and had a blast catching small white bass and largemouths. All the fish down there where about 6 inches but we had one on every single cast!

While launching the boat at the start of the day my kid couldnt hold the rope and I had to go swimming after the boat!! YUCK!! I think I need another shower!

I fished the north end of the lake for about 1/2 hour today and had pretty fast action just dragging nightcrawlers. I caught 4 bass and 1 giant cat. At least I thought it was a giant Smile The bass where small but it was still fun. I Also missed a few other fish and saw quite a few dead cat fish over by hickory point.

greenslime, I see you took your board name form the lake itself.

I'm of the believe the lake has just maxxed out on runoff nutrients, without some kind of ban on fertilizer running into the lake, I dunno, maybe a 150' setback for lawn fertilizing or manure spreading by farmers, I don't see the condition improving. Fairly sure the algae probably sucks up the oxygen content as well (don't remember my has biology all that well, been a loooong time), if nothing else all that gunk retards the water current movement, also affecting oxygen levels.

Too, in some sections the insect levels are so high fish don't even have to swim to feed, just open their mouths and the bugs are sucked in.

Lived by the mudhole for 12 years now, worst season ever. Puke

I can't remember a time when I couldn't catch at least a couple of catfish or bullhead off my pier at almost any time of the day. That time has come, and I'm not sure why. I have had more than the usual number of dead catfish coming ashore ever since our last big heat wave. Does anyone ever check oxygen levels in the summer? There has been some really nasty algae this year, and it seems to come earlier every year.

Is the water flowing from the dam again? I read earlier on here that the water was cut off from the dam and the fishing kind of sucked.

I am moving to hickory point on BD Lake. In between storms and packing today my son and I fished for about 20 minutes. We actually did pretty good for that short amount of time. We caught a few nice gills, saw a pike chasing a gill up to the shore and I missed a pretty decent cat. I cant wait to start really learning this lake!

I was wondering where it is safe to launch a 15ft glastron? I plan on going fishing for the first time on that lake and have a fish locater and depth finder but any fishing advice on that lake would be nice. Just send me a message on here. Thank you fellow anglers Cool Big Smile

From what i heard, they shut the water off from the dam and alot of fish got stuck in sum of the holes and ended up dying, Thats what a friend told me?? He said there were people down there just grabbing fish by hand and taking them home...Seems strange though

Justin, I noticed that a couple days ago when I stopped down. I went back by the power plant and threw a few casts out just for the hell of it because I was in town, and I saw a few decent walleye floating around a bunch of nice crappie in the 10-13 inch range also floating around near the shore. I haven't had a chance to get on here until now, otherwise I would've posted earlier. Needless to say, I'm also wondering if anyone has any info on that...
