Perfect conditions Wednesday evening off Manitowoc as we worked the Can area. A rain Tuesday night a small amount of fog mixed in with a slight wave and mid-fifties water - the picture couldn't be better as I set lines in 30ft.. Three fish stuck and 2 didn't. I tried spoons, sticks and plugs but last night they wanted spoons. A bloody nose and flounder pounder got hit off the riggers set 20 to 23ft. down back 70ft. or so. Two mature Salmon and a small brown. Good luck.

Winds have been a little too strong for the Average Jo,
Friday and Saturday's forecast also look like strong winds, I still got my fingers crossed for Sunday.
Hope to see ya soon,

Caught some fish before the wind started to blow outside of the nets with plaid flashers and salt and pepper flies with 20oz ball out 45 passes off the outriggers. Nice 10lb coho in the mix. Beach was full, kites were flying, sail surfers were out, and the waves were to high so the Marina Monkey ran off to have a glass a wine.

Left the Manty pierheads 8/26 just ahead of the car ferry and took the same heading east. Stopped in 100 fow to check water temps, didn't like it, continued steaming east, stopping and setting up in 270 fow.
Surface temps balmy, but down deeper there was some nice cool water and that's where the fish were. SWR with spoon on rigger got hit within 5 minutes of being down 100, a nice silver 17 pound female. Action was steady for that first 90 minutes, we were 5 for 6 with two four year olds, and some smaller kings / bows (releasing the bows that we could).
Hit a little lull, so decided to check a little shallower, Hit another nice 60 minute flurry in 220, a couple lakers, smaller kings, and one more four-year old. 45 minutes fbeor sunset, headed to the east, back in 270 by sunset. Bagged our fourth and final four-year old just after sunset on a glow spoon on a 300 foot copper.
Ended up 14 for 17, keeping 10. The four four-year olds were all female, silver, with mature eggs but still pretty tight in the skein. Rest were smaller kings, bows, and three lakers. Bows were all on the smaller side, haven't gotten one decent bow all season. Spoons did the majority of the heavy lifting, one of the big kings came on a flasher fly down deep on a wire dipsy.
Wish I would have gotten out earlier, they were popping when we set up. Still some good fishing to be had, just gotta go search and hope you stumble across them.
And the winds shall blow again..

Fished this morning from 5:30 - 10:00 am out of Two Rivers. Weaved around in 40-150 fow and caught one small king in 140 off green spoon/dipsy and lost a nice one in 40 fow as were started pulling in rods to go home.....also on green spoon. Pretty slow....only saw 3-4 other boats out the entire morning. Had a hard time finding any cool water on subtroll.

Left the Manty pierheads Monday 8/23 ~ 3:30 PM and headed due east. Set up in 240 between the cities. Marked small pods of fish between 210 - 200 FOW, decided to work that area hard. Ended up 7 for 9. Two nice four year olds, the others kept were nothing special. Lost two nice kings. All but one hit came on spoons, one hit on flasher fly on deep wire dipsy, no hits on plugs. Both bigger kings came on deep rigger on SWR, silver / green spoon. Once again, could not make it happen from just before sunset to dark. At sunset, headed west and ended up in ~ 100 FOW. Marked some of those fish that magically appear after dark between 150 and 100 FOW, but no takers. Fantastic night on the water, full moon rising as sun was setting.

the only fish we could get going last night were at 100 ft. even another guy i talked to in 150 ft of water 4 miles away said his only hit was at 100 ft.
at 45 ft of water it was 70 degrees almost the entire water column. east winds could ruin my birthday they suck so bad
whites are still the best flashers and fly's
dusty enjoyed his first time salmon fishing. before and after photo was his favorite

With the left over rollers making it a last minute decision to go out fishing, the seasickness set in fast but seemed to be the key in catching fish. We rolled from 60-140 feet of water and the wonderbread hub cap with the purple worm and the traffic cop with the glow bee fly and a green grizzly caught most of the fish. Had a great time at the G-Man Open/Invatational Tournament.

Thanks to City Central for having the after fishing party, everyone had a really great time. There are a few fish left in the lake but it's been random guess to catch them. Warm water is back and no patterns to anything. The G-Man Invitational Tournament and the Westshore tournament this weekend. Watch for the Adventures of the Marina Monkey!

I set our 6 lines off Manitowoc in 48ft. Thursday about 5:45PM. The wind had turned North East mid-morning and seas were rough earlier but settled down to more fishable late afternoon. Recent West winds put some colder water below the mid-60 surface as we started North of town and trolled South staying between 50 and 60ft.. We only took 2 hits until 8PM but both were landed and were teen sized Kings. Mylar colored plugs off riggers 48ft. and 44ft. got slammed. Our dipsies and leadcore were dead. One fish was stuffed with bait the other empty. Glad to see Santa and Disco did ok ! Pier fishing has been very slow as I walked out the South Pier three nights this week a nice Brown was landed Monday. Good luck.

Fished last night with my good friend "Big Santa" and Greg the new guy. Sounds like everyone experienced almost the same thing, pretty dead until just before dark and nobody was having much fun in the 2 - 3 footers with swells. We finished 4 for 6 with two nice fish, a 17 pound male turning dark and a 14 pound female still mostly silver. Jplugs caught 2, spoons caught 1, and flasher fly caught 1. Wonderbread and green colors did most of the damage. We worked deeper early then moved into 60 - 70 feet towards sundown. Shallow was better but we did have two nice fish on in the 100 - 110 fow but could not get them to stick.

Well we made it back out yesterday, and were welcomed by a fairly strong North East Breeze. I have to really stop listening to the "Weather men" since all I heard leading up to yesterday was that there would be a deminishing "South West" around 6 MPH. Oh well we played the hand we were dealt and plowed through the waves to a 150 FOW the set up. We got our first fish about 3 hours later in 60 FOW. Waves started to calm down but we went another 2 hours before we got our 2nd fish in 80 FOW, that was enough for one day. Both fish came on dodger fly combos, one on a pound ball out 140 and the other on a rigger down 50. Hope to get back out under better condition soon, Out Deep AJ's Dream

Almost a had the first skunk of the year tonight, with 20 plus trips out so far this year. Told my grandpa we would give it 10 more minutes...and 15 minutes later we were 2 for 3 with an 8lber and a 9lber. The 9lber was starting to color. 8lber hit on a white j-plug on a pump 250 feet out in 70 FOW and 9lber hit a flasher/fly combo (sliver/green) down 65feet. Lost fish hit on 5 color core with moonshine spoon. We started in 50 FOW and moved in an out to 105 FOW. Fish we picked up were south of Manitowoc with the nice 3-4 footers from the northeast.....I know we were very pleased with two as many others had none or one.
