this time of year the big gills go deep and suspend making them much harder to catch, the fish are still there.

Went out early a.m. fishing and caught A LOT of small bluegill. They were hitting on all parts of the lake, but nothing in keeper range. One small perch as well. It appears that the larger fish stock may be running low!!

my son and I caught a nice mess on the 4th. no mega monsters but all very nice sized. good eaters. kept these for the table and threw back just as many. i havent seen the panfishing this good in many many years. are people finally starting to practice selective harvesting or is the pike population down to where the panfish can do better??? red worms and slip bobbers in about 8 fow was the ticket. they were really slamming em today. we wouldnt normally have kept this many but many swallowed the hook so bad that they wouldnt live.
