Gator - My family moved to Amberg in '79 (live in Green Bay now). Been fishing Chalk Hills a long time but always launched above the dam and fished between the two of them (below the dam on K but above the other one). I've never really fished the Pembine area. Where can I launch a 16 1/2' flat bottom boat in that area? Would love to get into some of those strong river smallies. And no worries on me keeping any of them...even if I get a trophy. Too much respect for them...my name says it all....

Hey Gatorbaitor, can you recommend which pool or pools to start on if you're new to the menominee? I'd like to bring my kid up and put him on some good smallmouth fishing in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks!

The fishing in the Pembine Area has been good this past week with all species of fish hitting well! The Brook Trout Fishing in the local streams is on fire right now with limits being caught regularly. The Bluegill Fishing has been real good in area lakes. The Walleye bite on the Menominee has been consistent especially in the early morning before sunrise and of course you cant hardly swing a dead cat out on the river without catching a nice Smallmouth Bass. If your in the town of Pembine swing by The Bait Barn the people there are real helpful at putting you on fish and right now they have Crawlers at the lowest price I've seen at a$1.50 a dozen and is open 24/7. Good Luck Fishing!

Go all the way down to the dam. Fish the weed lines for blue gills and crappies. Walleyes wil be hard to come by but if you can find sand humps of drop offs in slack water areas you might find some.

My in laws have land in upper michigan and i live in wisconsin. i know you can have either license to fish the river in a boat. If I am shorefishing on the river but standing in Michigan, do I need a MI license? I tried finding this in the regs but could not.

Thank you!

a920rooster............You can fish several areas north of the highway Z bridge up to the falls. If you go east over the bridge then turn left on the first road. There are several places where you can walk down to the river. The best one that I found was down by the boat launch. I caught some really nice smallmouth bass down there.

You can also fish near the highway K bridge to the south. I also caught some really nice smallmouths down there too. I fished on the west side of the river down there.

Good luck
