About Your Guide...

My name is Ben Kueng and I specialize in guided fishing trips for musky, pike, bass, walleye, salmon, rainbow trout and brown trout on the lakes and rivers of Southern Wisconsin. I bring over 20 years of multi-species angling experience as well as proven techniques and patterns that ensure a productive trip no matter what the season.

Guiding is my full-time job and I take what I do very seriously. I will go to any lengths to make your trip as enjoyable as possible and if there’s anything I can do to further exceed your expectations, please don’t hesitate to ask.

The time of year and client preference will dictate exactly where and what we will be fishing for (please see the “waters” page for more info) Start time and where we meet will vary, but I will provide precise directions to the lake we will be fishing each day.

Your Trip...

My goal for each trip is to provide a fun, safe, informative, and productive outing. I am generally on the water 7 days a week whether I have clients or not. Patterning the daily
transitions and movements of the fish ensures the best possible fishing for you, the client. Besides, do you really need an excuse to go fishing everyday? Needless to say, I really enjoy what I do and love sharing my vast amount of knowledge with my clients.

My clientele ranges from anglers who are looking to learn a particular lake in more detail, to father/son, husband/wife combos that fish with me for 7+ days. I fish a variety of lakes and can accommodate any angler of any experience level. Each lake is a little different, but is categorized as either a “trophy” or “numbers” lake. On a “numbers” lake you can generally catch as many fish as you want, but they usually run smaller. On a “trophy” lake you will catch fewer fish, but the average size will be much larger than on a “numbers” lake.

You will be fishing from a Ranger 620 tiller “Deep V” multi-species boat with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. My boat is over 20’ with plenty of room for 3 anglers plus myself and is very comfortable to fish from, even with a good chop on the water. My boat is set up to troll 9+ lines with planer boards, cast, jig or live bait fish for any species. My goal is to put you on the most fish that I possibly can, by utilizing the most productive method of fishing during your trip.

Ice Fishing
When the Ice is safe enough to walk on I will start running ice fishing trips for Trophy brown trout, steelhead, pike, walleye and panfish. What type of species we pursue and where we fish will vary greatly from client to client. On your typical “action lake” you generally won’t get all your lines in the water before they start getting hit. On a “trophy lake” you will get fewer hits, but the average size fish is much bigger, with a better chance at landing that fish of a lifetime!

I also run ice fishing trips on Lake Michigan between Sheboygan and Kenosha for giant brown and rainbow trout. It is not uncommon to catch browns in the 20lb range and rainbows (steelhead) up to 15lbs on a fairly consistent basis. Bigger fish are out there and just last year the world record brown trout was caught out of Racine, and topped the scales at just over 40lbs!!!

I use only top of the line equipment including automatic fisherman the automatic fisherman automatically sets the hook and allows you to fight every fish on a rod and reel. This is by far more enjoyable than hand lining a big pike or 20lb trout with a tip-up. It also offers you a better chance at landing that fish of a lifetime!

I supply heated shacks, fishing equipment and hot lunch on the ice. All you need to bring is warm clothes, a beverage and appropriate license.
