Accommodations

Our fly-in fishing camp has 7 guest cabins that accommodate 4 to 10 persons each. Comfort in the wilderness, that is important, so we have reduced the number of bunk beds in each cabin to no more than 2 per cabin. Our three large cabins can accommodate up to 10, and have 4 bedrooms each, each cabin has a hot shower and a thermostat controlled wood pellet stove. Each bed has a comfortable mattress and we supply fresh bedding including linens, pillows, comforters and blankets. All cabins at our camp have large Fully equipped Kitchens, with pots, pans, glasses, plates, and Utensils that you need. each cabin also has a complete shore lunch kit with pots, pans and cooking utensils. Its a breeze to prepare your favourite meals when you return to camp after an exciting day of walleye fishing

Guest Cabins 1 & 2
The first two cabins at our fishing camp are located closest to the boat and aircraft docks, store, gazebo and BBQ deck. Each cabin sleeps up to 10 with 4 bedrooms, Hot running water with large showers in the bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, wood pellet fired, thermostat controlled pellet stoves, and covered front deck. Paneled in pine on the inside walls and ceiling. The walls an ceiling are insulated to keep you warm in the spring and fall and cool in the summer. Both cabins have a covered deck, and are opposite plans of each other.

J.E.J. Cabin
Our fishing camps' largest cabin sleeps up to 10 persons. This cabin has 4 bedrooms, hot running water and shower, a large fully equipped kitchen "boardroom" dining table and covered porch. Paneled in pine on the inside walls and ceiling. The walls an ceiling are insulated to keep you warm in the spring and fall and cool in the summer. Beside the cabin runs a spring on one side and the lodge on the other.

Cabin's Three, Four and Five
The original guest cabins at our fishing camp, comfortable 4-6 man cabins with added privacy on the northeast side of the fishing camp next to the main lodge. Each cabin has a deck on the front, custom built wood fired stoves, 2 bedrooms each, Pine paneled interior and fully equipped kitchens. There is a dock and second 14 foot screened in gazebo with gas BBQ right at the lakeshore. The sidewalk ends at cabin 5 and there is a trail that takes you to the beach.

Fisherman's Cabin
The Fisherman's Cabin was Grandpa's original cabin built in 1949, was the first cabin built at the camp. It has been completely renovated, fully equipped kitchen, insulated, and Kozi wood stove. Only 30 feet from the waters edge this is a fantastic choice for groups of 2 to 4, with a glassed in porch overlooking the lake. Sleeps 2-4 people.

Additional Amenities

Boats and Motors
Boats are 16 foot Lund's with 15 hp or 20 hp Honda motors. Boats are parked on well built large floating docks and make for easy access in and out of your boat no matter the water level.

Fishing Lodge
At the centre of our camp is our fishing lodge, a great place to kick back and enjoy the view from the top deck or to play a game of ping pong or foosball.

Camp Facilities
Sydney Lake Lodge has a small store for your basic needs including some tackle, pop and beer and gear. We also have a Finnish dry sauna on the lake and two large lakeshore gazebos, one at either end of camp.

Fishing

The master angler program for released trophy fish rewards many happy fishermen.

Experience – Your successful fishing trip is our business. The Fahlgren family built and has operated our fishing camp for over 30 years. John Johnston Fahlgren “Great Grandpa” built his first cabin on Sydney Lake as a private fishing retreat in 1933.

Exclusive Waters – The camp has a central location to more than 200 miles of shoreline on two exclusive lakes with more than 120 islands and 20 000 acres of fishing area. Plus several portage lakes for the more adventurous.

Service – When you arrive your gear will be moved to your cabin and back to the dock when you leave. Your boat will be fuelled and checked each morning. Daily housekeeping cleans up your cabin and removes your garbage. Sydney Lake staff is on hand to help you: whether you need a case beer or pop brought up to your cabin, a fishing report for a certain bay or the best lure to use.

Comfortable Quality – New and well maintained boats and motors with casting floors and swivel seats. Fly In high quality aircraft with an outstanding safety record. Well built cabins with full kitchens, pine panelled interiors and great views is a perfect complement to our wilderness setting

Amenities - Fourteen foot ten sided lakeside gazebos are at each end of the camp, perfect to relax for evening cocktails at the waters edge. The camp store has some tackle, batteries, pop, Sydney Lake Gear, and a few other items that you may need during your stay. At the center of our camp is our hand hewn rustic log lodge with stone fireplace and second story loft lounge perfect for a poker game with your friends. In front of the lodge enjoy the heat with our classic Finnish dry sauna with natural wood fired heat.

Value – World class fishing in comfortable cabins with full kitchens: by cooking your own meals and running your own boat makes pricing very reasonable. Special family rates make it easier to bring along the kids or grandchildren.

Connectivity – Emergency phone and internet is available at the main cabin, wireless internet is available in some cabins and around the main cabin and lakeside gazebo by the dock.

Pure Nature – Sydney and Kilburn lakes are near the headwaters of the Surgeon River System. There is and has never been any upstream industrial activity, the waters are pure as they have been for thousands of years. The lakes are natural and embedded in the rugged Canadian Shield and protected in Woodland Caribou Wilderness Park.

Sustainability – The Trophy Waters Conservation Area uses sustainable conservation fishing practices to ensure the fishing stays great for you, your children and grandchildren. Low impact also affects our camp policies such as using four stroke engines which use less fuel and are less polluting – they also troll at low speeds better.
