Jimmy’s MasterBaiters

Jimmy’s MasterBaiters is a fishing lure company which began as a hobby some fifteen plus years ago and has now expanded to include fishing apparel available for both retail and wholesale markets. Jimmy (yes, there really is a Jimmy) has been an avid fisherman his entire life and began experimenting with the fishing lures already on the market by combining different components.

Jimmy started by bending his own wire and putting together a spinner bait that combined colorful twister tails and interchangeable blades and was happy with the results. The tails are also interchangeable. This makes it easy to hit the water with a small tackle box filled with different blades and tails and change your bait to adapt to the water and fish you’re after. It eliminates the need to carry around hundreds of dollars of lures in different colors and sizes. Jimmy’s MasterBaiters are now available in seven different sizes and are great for catching everything from muskies to panfish.

Word got out as Jimmy’s friends saw the success he was having with his fishing lure and soon fishermen from across the United States were contacting him asking to buy his baits. Bait shop owners followed. Thus, the end of a hobby and the beginning of a small business.

The company name also intrigued fishermen as well as those who have never wet a line. So, Jimmy began selling Jimmy’s MasterBaiters hats. The fishing clothing line has now expanded to include everything from T-shirts to boxer shorts and sweatshirts.

About Jimmy:
Jimmy’s love for fishing began back in the 1950’s while taking trips with his mom and dad, Toni and Leo, to northern Wisconsin. In the 70’s, Jimmy, along with his wife and parents, bought a trailer on the Holcombe Flowage.

For 34 years, Jimmy made as many trips “up north” as possible while pursuing his career as a physical education instructor, coach, and athletic director. But come Friday afternoon, the old station wagon was loaded up with fishing gear and off he went, often with his wife, Jan, their two children, and their beagle in tow. His kids, Jamie and Jimbo, grew up loving to be on the water as much as Jimmy did.

Five years ago, Jimmy realized his dream when he and Jan bought a beautiful home on Lake Holcombe. Soon after, Jimmy was able to retire from teaching. Now he spends most of his time in paradise – either fishing or enjoying the view of the lake while working on Jimmy’s MasterBaiters. As Jimmy still bends every piece of wire for his baits, bait production is a time-consuming process. At times, baits may be limited. Please be patient – they’re worth the wait.
