I lived in powers lake for a few years, and one thing that I do know is that nobody from IL cares about anything other than boozing and ripping around in a ski boat. Many many times i watched drunken fibs putting their boats in, still dripping from whatever other lake they got drunk on, tons of weeds hanging off the trailer lights, powerloading back on for the drunk drive home to richmond or wherever. it's just the way it is now

FISHING REPORT
10/21/12 11:09 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 61° - 65° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Fished for 5 hours today and never had a hit. I tried shallow, docks and some weed lines with senkos, swimjigs, spinnerbaits, a square bill crank and a few casts with a frog. I even tried strike king 5XD's in deep water. Got nothing, nothing and more nothing. There was one shoreline with weeds and pads where I had a small pike follow my frog, seen another pike and had 2 bass dart out in front of the boat. In 2008 I won a small tournament on powers, sure glad it wasn't a tournament today.

DO NOT POWER LOAD ON THE LAUNCH! there is a rock pile that is being produced due to people power loading there boats it makes it hard for ski boats to get the boat out and has caused a giant hole at the end of the concrete slab at the launch pad. I have a house on the lake and it really pisses me off when people are inconsiderate enough just keep doing this. Boat trailers are equipt with a winch so people don't have to power load. Plaese stop and the pile will stop and trailers will not be damaged from dropping off the edge of the launch pad.

I destroyed my trailer at the public launch on the north side of the lake this afternoon! Would have been nice to know that there was like a 2 foot drop at the end of the launch!!!!! I know the water is down. I have a long truck and a long trailer, trailer axle was hung up on this ledge, PLEASE BE CAREFUL GUYS!! Please post a sign there as well so someone else doesnt have to go through what I went through this afternoon, have to rebuild some of the trailer now! Thanks to 2 other gentleman I was able to get the boat and trailer out of the water. Puke Puke

2002, it's pretty much closed in by homes. Best bet would be to at least invest in a cheap boat if necessary.---Lots of fish out there on those under water islands

A boat would be your best bet but there is a few places you can fish from shore at. If its not too busy with boat traffic the DNR launch by Buoys is probably your best bet. Otherwise there the other boat launch and beach area in the knolls subdivision.

I posted this on the other Powers Lake report, but I'll do it again here. Is there anywhere to fish from shore? Or is it a typical area lake where the whole shoreline is someone's backyard and you need a boat?

I big thank you to the guys who helped me out this morning,05:00. The water has dropped in the last two weeks. I backed off launch pad. Trailer bottomed out, unable to pull out. Two fisherman jumped in the water up to their chest to move the trailer over 6 feet to catch one wheel on the pad. SEMPER FI

Worked the islands again this morning and came up with 19 bass. This 3# was the largest. Had to move a lot cuz we seem to catch a few from a moving school and then the bite quit. All ranges of depth from 11-22 FOW. Watermelon worm on drop shot rig. Tons of fun. Tight lines. Jman Cool

Stay with that underwater island. These two are the biggest of our bag today at 3 & 4. Only tactic switch today was to a fire and ice worm instead on watermelon because of the heavy overcast conditions. 20-22 FOW...Tight Lines To All. Jman Cool

That powers lake is still hot. Same rig, same worm, Worked the entire island this time as they were moving constantly. This was the largest at 3# out of 9 we caught. All released. Cool

That under water island is still hot. Those bass are just loving that 7" watermelon worm. We're using it on a drop shot rig and finding them at 18-22 fow. This rather crappy pic is the largest of the 11 we caught this morning at 3#. Tight Lines, Jman Big Smile
