3 guys stopped in to the shop this morning to get bait and some ice skunks. I sent them up to the boathouses. One guy fished the deep hole and caught a pail of crappies. The other two fished west of that and did real good with bluegills. They had good results using the ice skunks. They reported 6 to 8 inches of ice.

A few perch and northern were caught this weekend, but as of Sunday the channel is not safe to cross in front of Waters Edge. Hope to be making ice soon but looks like it will be a while before the weather turns.

That is what I figured, fishing was not that great to begin with. I have off tomorrow so I am trying to find a place that still has good ice in the area.

Deteriorating … Sat it was okay .. Sun not okay.. Today a high of 48 deg (3rd day in a row) and 100% rain.. life preserver and lots of luck might be needed.

Took a drive thru the public landing on Sunday. There is open water a hundred yards long and 20 yards wide right in front of the landing. I couldnt believe that someone had previously dragged their portable shack or fishsled across where there is now open water (the sled tracks are still visable in the snow)!!! Worried

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 6" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 31° - 35° F
Fished Desoto Bay Thursday- SLOW.. a few small crappie, one 19" walleye and that's it. Moved to Stoddard on Friday and Saturday. SLOW... a half dozen nice perch, 2 nice crappie, a decent northern, and a few decent gils. Very few on the flasher and none chasing. Jig all day to no avail. The bites came early and lasted about 1/2 hour. Then nothing all day- no afternoon bite at all. Heard there was better action north of Lacrosse. I met a few very nice guys- (locals). One guy who lives on the river front in Stoddard and his friend on Friday and a guy who lives in Lacrosse on Saturday. If any of you want to send me your info, I will be back after Christmas and hoping to meet up. Channel open south of Water's Edge. Rest of area good but likely fading. 6-7".

Some guys are catching a few perch out to the southwest and out in front of the marina. The Northern are hitting pretty good and the bluegills are scarce but they have to be out there somewhere. I won't be running the shuttle until there is 15 inches of ice on the channel in front of the marina.

I was there on December 4th. 5"of ice everywhere. I quad runner ran all the way out to the southern most island. There were ice heaves in front of the entrance to the lagoon, but there is a land trail south of the parking lot that will get you to where you want to go. As for catching...NOT GOOD. Targeted gills and did not get a bite or see a fish on the camera in 4 hours. Sportsman
