Over the last several days there has been a lot of success with panfish. Big gills, big perch and big crappies. Craig and Margaret wanted to see what the Mississippi could offer so we went after a mixed bag, catching walleyes, bluegills, crappie, and of course, sheepshead. Craig was impressed by how good the fishing was on the Mississippi. Yesterday afternoon my daughter and I went out for some panfish and she had a great time catching some monster crappies. The fall bite is getting good!

Went out yesterday to find fish for an upcoming trip. Started out trolling cranks along the rocky shoreline. Too many weeds. Switched over to casting the same shoreline and picked up smallmouth and largemouth with that presentation. Decided to change gears and try for some panfish. Found gills and perch dragging dropshot and worms in 7 feet of water. Returned to the rocks and did some vertical jig fishing and picked up a nice 28" walleye to round out the day.

Yesterday's trip with Gary started out with alot of fog. So we got a late start but it turned out to be a beautiful day. The river is full of weeds and a fast current. That didn't stop Gary from a good catch of walleye, bass and a bonus flathead all on DT6 cranks.

Well, we are back to fishing. The summer boat rental business kept me busy and fishing trips had to be put on hold for awhile. Now that kids are back in school, rentals have tapered off. We had two trips this week. The first was pan fishing with Mike and his wife Linda. They caught some nice perch and gills. Second trip was with Mark and his wife Rhonda. They wanted to learn the area and target walleye. Mike had the first strike, a big sheepshead, then a sauger, then a sheepshead, and on and on and on. When Mike cooled down, Rhonda started getting hits. Her first fish was a walleye, then sheepshead, sheepshead and you know the rest. Both trips were great fun with great people.
