Is anybody reporting anything. Been here a few times and only caught a small perch. Any advice where to head? Weeds seem non existent.

FISHING REPORT
12/27/14 6:30 PM CST
Ice Depth: 8" Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 31° - 35° F Water Temp: Below 40° F
A good amount of water on the ice earlier today. By the time we left it had mostly frozen over because of the cold wind. There is plenty of solid ice out there. We measured at least 8 inches. The bite was nonexistent. Sat from 12-4 with no fish through the ice. Showed a few on the Marcum but no takers. It was very windy. With that said, make sure you take care when standing up from your shelter. I nearly had mine blown away from me. Also, with the water on top of the ice freezing, it is extremely slippery. Wear your creepers or cleats.

Hopefully others getting into fish but they don't seem to be in Asylum Bay.

Stay safe and tight lines.

Hit asylum this am and had 7" of ice in the inlet 8ft of water and worked all the way into 5ft. All holes 7" only saw a northern and a few crappies on cam. Ice is getting soft next week's cold snap should firm things back up again. Be smart and stay safe if you venture out on the ice. Heading to poygan tomm am.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I'm 6'4'' and my chest waders are taller than most! I only go out on ice to check conditions with chest waders and ice picks if I am 100% sure of the depth and I know the water line won't go past the chest. Plus, I always have someone with me. All of you are right though. Chest waders can be your best friend or your worst enemy. They will fill up in a hurry.

Stay safe!

Not trying to sell anything but after A well known guide passed away from drowning I purchased a flotation suit and would not go out ice fishing without it. I consider it as important as my shelter, flasher,or any other piece of equipment I take out. Not sure why ALL ice fishing suit manufacturers don't make all the suits floatation. I also wear it in cold weather boat fishing in late fall early spring.

Ditto on the waders issue. Very dangerous unless you are 100% positive the depth isn't over your head. Once they fill with water it's tough moving even if it isn't over your head. I'm speaking from experience. Stepped in a deep hole many years ago while trout fishing and if it hadn't have been for my fishing partner I wouldn't be sitting here today. Passing along for what it's worth. Not looking for an argument either, but from what I've seen on LL I'm sure someone will take offense. Anyway, be safe and smart.
