I am going to try in the next day or 2. For sure by Thursday. The whole lake looked froze over this morning so wind should not have any impact on it anymore.

I flew the drone over Asylum and you can see where the new ice formed Friday night and the old ice from Wednesday night.

Checked Asylum Bay this morning. Was able to walk to the mouth of the boat launch (~15ft) but then the spud bar started going through on the 3rd strike. I think this weekend you'll see a few guys out there if they aren't deer hunting.

Went out for a couple of hours this evening with the fiancee and my cousin. Managed 7 crappie 9 1/2 - 11 inches. Fat heads and rosies on pink and white 1/32 oz jigs about 2-2.5 feet down. Nice evening to be out in the boat.

Tight lines \m/

Gills are really starting to bit now. Red worm with a colored jig head work the best. Not a whole lot of bites on a plain hook but they seemed to like a white mini-mite with a worm a whole lot better. Just letting it sit. Not very much on jigging plastics yet and last year, I made a killing jigging mini-mites.

Fished Saturday trolling 6 rods using flicker shads 6:30am to 10am in 8 to 13 feet of water. Fought through the crappies for 3 walleye 18". The crappies were impressive all 18 we kept measured 14" or larger. Also a few white bass and of course a couple goats. Great day and a lot if funny with my best fishing buddy my son!!! We will be back soon.

Yesterday, a friend and his family made a day of it and caught 40 crappies. They were using rosies and casting out from shore as far as they could. I couldn't cast that far and only got a couple. Another man and his son ended up with 15. Tried again this morning and got skunked while the same man and his son had quite a few in the bucket and were using white tubes with a silver head.

Fished for a couple hours this morning. All we got were a couple sheepshead. It didn't look like anyone else was having much luck.

Limit of crappies between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. All caught within about 20 ft. from shore. Rosies are the ticket. Pretty much turned up their noses at the fatheads. Lake flies are still bad but it's worth catching a bucket of fish. Big Smile

Crappies are snapping right now. Finally coming in to the beds. Rosies seem to work better than fat heads but still haven't gotten any on plastics. Got a few nice gills on red worms relatively close to shore. The bite is on. Saw several kids catching crappies. Bring 'em down so they can learn how to fish and pass it on to their kids.
