Greenie, Better luck soon. I fished from Poygan to Shioctin all throughout October, in good weather and bad. Got a few walleye and white bass early in the month, and nothing since. None of the about dozen old timers I talked to were doing any better. They may already be in their deep holes for the winter. I marked fish constantly in any 14 FOW and deeper holes I tried but got no responses regardless of offerings. I was also told there was a huge ciscoe spawn/ bloom this fall and that provided a ton of food for them. I also heard that since no one was allowed to take minnows this year from the water due the VHS, that left thousands of pounds of food in the water. My boat is going into storage for a few months until ice out. Good luck to ya.

I hear the fall Walleye run is starting in Fremont already. Should just be a couple days until they are running up here. Time to bundle up for these low-mid 40 degree days and get a few!

Fished Saturday October 18th off and on all day as I was taking out our dock in between. Targeted crappies with 1/16 to 1/8 once gum ball jigs with a gulp 1" twister tail and or fat head minnow. Tight lipped but we did manage some nice slabs for dinner. Threw back a bunch of 7". Surprising the big ones came on chartreuse colored jigs and very few on my go-to pink and white. Vertical jigging drop offs and casting jig into rip-rap out produced slip bobbers but went through more jigs catching log fish. Had something huge on for a ten minute fight before he spit the hook. Shad rap only produced a 6" crappie, a kitty fish and this slime rocket that I am to pickle. If anyone wants my recipe send me a private message.

Fished Saturday the 27th. Focused on one area of the little cut. Was the only fishing boat on the river because of duck hunters. Started off jigging 1/8 oz chartreuse jigs tipped with minnows along drop offs and current brakes. Picked up a few whites here and there. My buddy tied on a perch color red eye shad and it was game on. After watching him land 3 nice bass I tied a Crome and blue rattle trap. Landed a 18" walleye, small mouths, large mouths and lost count on the white bass. Buddy had a surprise 32" gator on a jig and crawler. Good fight on 6 lb line. DNR stopped to say hi and check us out too. Good day on the water.

Got out from 4:30-7pm on saturday. Was able to find some nice crappies in the backwaters fishing 13-15 feet of water with slip bobbers about 4-6 feet down with little crappie minners. Ended up catching 8 total, lost a couple on the way in. Kept 6 between 9-11 inches. Its picking up a little bit, saw others fishing nearby without much luck, perhaps I got a little lucky.

Tight lines, Skippy

Kids got ot of school early wednsday so we took advantage and chased crappies. Water is quite high for september. Had lots of bites on minnows and jig with minnow, very lite bite and we lost more than we caught. Ended up with enough for one meal, not much.

Fishcraft, I often mark schools of fish in the Wolf and will note dozens upon dozens on my screen and never get a bite. I wonder if these are actually fish and maybe its debris in the water. In the case of eddy edges, where the currents are moving counter to each other, wondering if these counter currents are being shown as fish on the screen. Kind of like when I start up my outboard and suddenly the sonar shows I have a bunch of fish 3 feet under my boat, due to the water disturbance of the motor.

I was out last night for a couple hours. I was jigging riprap for some smallys, had a bunch of fish under 10" but only one nicer one. Was marking big schools of suspended fish between 23-12 FOW in the edge of edys;nothing would hit a crawler or minnow on a jig in the schools

What a morning! 46 inch, 23 lb. caught in New London on Mepps "5 on 10 lb test. What a fight. This is my 15 year old nephew...he did great fighting the fish. 20 minutes of agonizing fun! Not to mention he caught a 27" pike right befor it! What a fisherman
