Fished Saturday the 27th. Focused on one area of the little cut. Was the only fishing boat on the river because of duck hunters. Started off jigging 1/8 oz chartreuse jigs tipped with minnows along drop offs and current brakes. Picked up a few whites here and there. My buddy tied on a perch color red eye shad and it was game on. After watching him land 3 nice bass I tied a Crome and blue rattle trap. Landed a 18" walleye, small mouths, large mouths and lost count on the white bass. Buddy had a surprise 32" gator on a jig and crawler. Good fight on 6 lb line. DNR stopped to say hi and check us out too. Good day on the water.

Got out from 4:30-7pm on saturday. Was able to find some nice crappies in the backwaters fishing 13-15 feet of water with slip bobbers about 4-6 feet down with little crappie minners. Ended up catching 8 total, lost a couple on the way in. Kept 6 between 9-11 inches. Its picking up a little bit, saw others fishing nearby without much luck, perhaps I got a little lucky.

Tight lines, Skippy

Kids got ot of school early wednsday so we took advantage and chased crappies. Water is quite high for september. Had lots of bites on minnows and jig with minnow, very lite bite and we lost more than we caught. Ended up with enough for one meal, not much.

Fishcraft, I often mark schools of fish in the Wolf and will note dozens upon dozens on my screen and never get a bite. I wonder if these are actually fish and maybe its debris in the water. In the case of eddy edges, where the currents are moving counter to each other, wondering if these counter currents are being shown as fish on the screen. Kind of like when I start up my outboard and suddenly the sonar shows I have a bunch of fish 3 feet under my boat, due to the water disturbance of the motor.

I was out last night for a couple hours. I was jigging riprap for some smallys, had a bunch of fish under 10" but only one nicer one. Was marking big schools of suspended fish between 23-12 FOW in the edge of edys;nothing would hit a crawler or minnow on a jig in the schools

What a morning! 46 inch, 23 lb. caught in New London on Mepps "5 on 10 lb test. What a fight. This is my 15 year old nephew...he did great fighting the fish. 20 minutes of agonizing fun! Not to mention he caught a 27" pike right befor it! What a fisherman

Been doing good on LM and decent size pike in the area on larger in line spinner baits. Anyone catching crappie or walleye?

Wisconsin Hunter/Fisher.. I have been out around the New London area just about every day this past week. Have been using minnows, crawlers, leeches, chubs/suckers, along with artificial baits (cranks, plastics, spinners, top water) and only catching goats and dink cats. We need some wind to get the fish biting!

I hear you. They do it to me when I'm anchored at Big Eddy. I could be the only boat in there, and they roll right up and drop anchor over my line while I'm casting. Fortunately it's the few, not the many, who are such serious ding-dongs.

Over this past week, been out 3 times. Ended the week with 3 white bass, 1 catfish, 1 smallmouth, 1 rock bass, couple sheeps, and 1 monster northern that snapped the line 5 ft from shore. All fish released due to size or breed. All fish caught on shiners/chubs, top water buzz bait, or rooster tails. No luck with flicker's or other cranks. No luck on leeches or crawlers. Anyone got a tip for catching Walleyes from shore in New London area??

Went out and found a spot on an inside curve, out of the current. About ten feet from shore. Using any color jig with small and medium minnows. Cast it about two feet from shore with a slow retrieve jigging the bottom or just reeling really slow. Kept 27 white bass in about six hours, but prob about one of those hours was spent tying on new jigs because of the snags.

Had a tackle box stolen out of my boat at the new london launch. Tied the boat up to the dock and went to get my truck. Now its gone. All equipment was put away on the ride back down river except for my larger box which doesn't fit in any compartments. It is a large fleet farm tackle bag. I always keep it stuffed under my console. Cash reward. 9203789395.
