Was fishing from shore at memorial park and only caught 1 little walleye. Me and a friend each hooked into very large sturgeon but broke off before landing them.

Besides the huge gut on her right now full of eggs, here's a quick primer on ID'ing male from female.

1 Examine the size of your walleye. Females tend to grow faster and larger than males. They are considered fully grown at one year, giving you a more accurate idea of the sex of your fish.

2 Observe behaviors during spawning. Males will discharge a white fluid during early spring, a process known as "milting" that fertilizes laid eggs.

3 Examine the walleye's posterior. The anus on a male is circular while the anus of a female resembles a keyhole, and the female's will become larger once it is time for her to lay eggs.

4 Examine the weight of your walleye. A male will weigh less and look slimmer than a female, with a more streamlined appearance; female walleyes are rounder and plump.

How the heck do so many people know a male from a female unless they are milking? Please share this with me and many other honest fisherman as it is certainly a mystery that so many people say we let go all the spawners when the stringer looks like heavy girls to me?

Vertical jigging Berkley power minnows did the best for us today in 12-24 fow. Released the spawners and caught lots of others!

Got out for a few hours today. Vertical jigging with orange jigs and also green jigs 1/4 oz caught the fish let a few females go and kept my limit of males. If anyone wants to get out give me a call 920-585-3249

Fished from shore today, caught 2 16" males on a blue 1/8 jig and fathead, that was the only thing they bit on. Only fished for two hours with the wife so it was a very productive day ;)

Fished from about 10am to dark. Started out anchored in a couple different spots using wolf river rigs and jigging with shiners and flatheads. Nothing. Then we tried drifting and got them to bite. I suggest a stinger hook. We lost several at the boat. Color didn't seem to matter on our 3/8 oz jigs. Kept five eater sized walleys between three of us and let a few monsters go.

Hammer- Could be, I was in a hurry when the guy was telling me about it. All I know is no one I've talked to in the last month has done well on the Wolf from Poygan to New London. They may be "killing them" in Oshkosh, but the poster didn't mention if he was referring to the river or on the lake. Not many details.
