If it gets slow on the float, go fish off the wall of the dam. Large split shot n minnow straight down along the wall. Bring a few blade baits too. 1/4 oz is perfect.  The Sebile Vibrato is tough to beat.

Ford:

I used to fish there years ago until I moved too far away.  I recall using a wolf river rig set up but with a flat disc shaped sinker due to the current.  The sinkers were 1.5 oz?  Use minnows.  They sell them there.  They used to sell the sinkers too.

Also good were blade baits (Sonar, Zonar ect) and hair jigs with stinger hooks.  Some days I had good luck with blue hair jigs and other days best with orange/yellow.

Closer to shore had less current and was best for the northerns (use large minnows).  Farther out on the float where more current was best for the walleye and saugers.

Please do enjoy the hamburgers.  The cafe on the float was great!  They would cook my burger and then yell out the window for me when it was ready.

Be prepared to catch almost anything.  Moon eyes, catfish, whitebass ect.  Lots of different fish around the float.

I forgot to add that with the live bait rig, many usually clamp on a screw type rod holder onto the rail and then use a second rod to jig.  If doing that, be sure to bring a portable rod holder along.  They sold bait there and provide nets too.

MOON PHASE
Full Moon

We're going to fish the float next week. What's the way most fish  for wallets ,jig and minnow or casting lures?. Is their room or is it elbow to elbow?

Fished the float yesterday and had a lot of fun.  My highlight was a 33 inch northern pike. Got it on a sucker I bought right on the float. I also caught 5 largemouth and one smallmouth bass.

It was a great experience that I hope to do again.

I'm thinking of going out either this weekend or next and had a couple of questions. Does the float move? Someone said something about trolling and I am wondering how to troll when the float is stationary (I could just be misunderstanding the nomenclature)? How much is it for overnight fishing and where do you sleep? I could just call the guys, but I was here and figured I'd ask. Tight lines.

My brother and I spent the day on the float on Thursday. We kept about ten perch, two walleye, two northern and four sauger. Even though it rained some and was windy and cold, we still had a good time. Hope go again sometime.
