Fished up in Rapids yesterday 11am-1:30pm. I fished mostly between the bridges in the current seam from the plant discharge. Water was 55* by the discharge and 48* upstream. Caught 6 walleyes, all short with the biggest at 14 1/2in. Caught one 14in. smallmouth. Was using a floating jig under splitshot and caught half the fish that way. The other fish were caught vertical jigging/casting jigs. I caught fish from 6-9fow. Water is low. Bumped the motor on a rock getting up there. Good thing I was just crawling along. Does anyone know the best route to get up to the dam. As I was running up a boat was comming back, I stayed with his bubbles until I got past the bridge and lost them. Tight Lines!

Fished the river across from Nepco again on sunday. Water was up a good foot or two. Missed a couple good bites but ended up catching 5 catfish, all between 19-21in, 1 smallmouth at 14in, and 1 big carp. Used half a nightcrawler under a couple splitshot. Tight Lines!

Fished the river across from lake nepco today 3-5pm. Caught one 21in catfish on a nightcrawler below a splitshot and missed two other bites. My wife caught two little bluegills with a bobber. Current slowed a little while we were out. Tight Lines!

went fishing out here for the first time yesterday (6/14). I was about a mile downstream of biron dam & paper mill. caught one 9" smallmouth in about two feet of water. was having a tough time because the wind was blowing me around and I was in a kayak with no anchor. I've never caught a smallmouth bass in my life i was actually hoping to target some crappies but i'm not sure exactly the best way to go about it. If anyone has any tips on what types of rigs they are using for crappies i would appreciate any kind of advice. Anyways it was a beautiful afternoon on the water its amazing how close you can get to deer, ducks and beavers and schools of carp when you are in a kayak. Awesome body of water.

Wow...what an amazing fishery!! Absolutely the best week of fishing I have ever had and I have fished from Kodiak to Florida and many points in between. Over 100 walleyes caught including a 28, 24 and 23 incher. At least 50 Smallies, 2 small muskies, and a 30 inch pike. All fish released to fight again save a few for a fish fry with the family. Fished current breaks from shore working a minnow near the bottom or a husky jerk sub surface. The only thing better than the fishing was the people I met. Dom at Ace hardware, the guys at Timberline Archery, and the people at Riverview Hospital, everyone was nice, polite and helpful. Special thanks to Josh and Alissa for sharing their time and knowledge of the waters and fish, I truely learned a lot from them. Dug ramps and picked fiddleheads to go with the beautiful Walleyes for dinner. Can't wait to come back and experience Wisconsin Rapids again.

wrfd113, thanks for the info Smile I'll give it a try tomorrow. Fished under the bridge and along downstream. Ended with 5 smallies and wallies using the time tested splitshot, #4 hook, and fathead. I'll let you know how tomorrow goes.

Hey Perchdoc, Lots of great fishing within 20 minutes of the hospital. River: If you want to stay on the river in the Rapids pool here are a few suggestions. Right under the mill you will find small walleyes and cats in the current breaks. Downstream fish the pipes between the grand and jackson bridges (west side) or below the expressway (east side). You can fish these from shore. In a boat run all the way down just above the dam fish the deep 20' hole for cats. Fish a 1/4 oz fig with minnow, gulp or crawler jig off the bottom. Lake Wazeecha: Shore fishing on the north west corner right next to 80th St in the county park or fish below the dam on the east end. County Hwy Z fish Nepko lake from shore or the cranberry ponds right from along the road. Good luck!
