fished today, sunny but really windy, tried finding calm spots with no luck, fishing was hard with wind and bright sunshine, seemed to me this place is probably best hit at night and calm conditions, summer is worse with boat traffic but later the better. managed a decent pike and smallie, had something pretty decent hit at dusk but got off. wet lines Wondering

Always have luck going along the shorelines throwing lures. Usually catch a good mix of smallies, northern and an occasional walleye, lgmouth, or even muskie. Or try tossing small white curlytails until you find crappie then concentrate on those areas. This usually works good for some action and variety of species.

Show us her bass, lol.

I did forget to mention. I have had good luck fishing Sandstone flowage. It is a smaller flowage just down river from High Falls. Good smallie action. And I caught a monster 20 in LGmouth that went 4+ lbs a few years ago.

As far as High falls goes the Smallie actionis supposed to be good, but I coudn't hook into that action either.

We deer hunt in the Bearsdale Springs area just south of N, west of 63. My bros place is near the end of Lyndale bay rd off Pease. Beautiful countrty, except for the wolves

My place is near there in a town called Delta. I fish the Upper Eau Claire...nice water...

Locals that don't provide any help are bad to the economy. I'm asking for High Falls Flowage advice for one weekend. I will probably never be back if I don't catch fish. I'll provide information for lakes that I fish to anybody that asks. I have no patience for selfish people. I'm sure the local bait shops, bars, restaurants, and resorts would benefit from visiting outdoorsmen and women.

Besides, my wife is easy on the eyes and her picture would look good on this thread holding up some sort of nice fish...

FISHING REPORT

Christofur a couple years ago I had a place right across the street from High Falls. I fished the lake a bunch of times. I have good electronics, and consider myself to be average avid fisherman. I fish the winnebago system the most and usually put walleyes in the boat. I fished High Falls many times and could not find a walleye to save my soul. I am NOT saying they are not there. The lake has a TON of structure for them to hang in. I also scouted shallow bays in spring and was not impressed with the numbers of bass. The locals are pretty tigh lipped about giving advice. The boat traffic is fierce on the weekends. The lake is a beauty, but the fishin is tough in my opinion. I can honestly tell you in approx 40 trips on the lake I caught 1 walleye, 1 northern, and maybe 6 LM bass. I am no expert by any means, just giving you my personal experience. If you fish during the week, or on bad weather weekends when not as much boat traffic I will say it is one of the prettiest lakes I have ever fished. Good luck!! By the way I sold my place across the road cuz the deer huntin sucked and I got sick of the fish frys at the corner bar, lol.

Any size to them gills thin ice??? I'm taking my wife there for a weekend of fishing. She doesn't fish much, so you make it sound like I should target gills to keep her happy. We're staying at Pine Acres...

I'd like to try for walleye...NEVER fished this lake. When reading the Hot Spots map, they make it sound like the fish will be jumping in the boat...I've heard (and read) otherwise...

Anybody that would offer tips would be greatly appreciated. I'll probably never be back as I have a cabin in Bayfield County and fish there and Waukesha County lakes a lot. So...your secrets are safe with me.

Good luck to all!

Chris

FISHING REPORT

Well another Mothers Day weekend fishing trip is in the books, and what a weekend to remember! got to the cabin Wednesday on to find a grouse had flown right through the cabin window needles to say the grouse was DOA! (dead on arrival). As far as fishing goes it was pretty much DOA as well! the boys started out on Lake mary east for crivitz without much luck then went over to high falls managed about 45 gills, thursday a nice day partly sunny highs low 60s fished bass bay between 8 guys got around 75 gills and a few Large mouths 17" being the largest. Friday with bad weather looming woke up to cloudy cooler weather hit the water around 10AM rains came about 2PM 60 gills later and a 19" large mouth later it was time to go dry out. Saturday morn a mental shocker!!!!!! 5" of snow on the boats with a wind chill of about 19 degrees come about 11:00AM we bring ourselves to hit the water dressed for ice fishing, but in the end it turned out to be our best day of fishing (GO FIGURE) sun came out and if you could get out of the wind it was very nice temps climbed upper 50s out of the wind warmed the water and the panfish converged in the shallows at the end of the dayall toll for that day 150 gills. All in all a sucessful weekend considering the weather. caught all on small piece of night crawler and slip bobbers. But you have to fish tight to the shore lines when its a warm sunny day only fished 6" down under the bobber. Also gills were on the sand beds along shoreline. if we can get a few days of warmer weather and sunny days the big females will surely be in the there. Fish the shorelines that get the first morning sun that water warms first. Tight lines to all

Me and two friends fished this Saturday. We tried several spots, but could only get a few rock bass and bluegill. Sad, I think the weather killed us, along with a cold front that moved in before we got up there.

Pretty quiet board, either the fish have not recovered from the drain yet or nobody is fishing here. I would hope by now, we would get some decent crappie fishing. Anybody having any luck with anything, don't need spots, just any report. Going up to the cottage tonight and hopefully get out tomorrow for awhile. I know last year was a tough year fishing our lake, but it has to get better! Tight lines, I will give a report after the weekend, we need posts!

Came up Saturday for the High Falls Fish-a-ree as I do every year. Did great on crappie's. (30) Biting best in the morning. Also about 6 perch. We also managed one nice 19 inch walleye. All the crappie's were keepers. Best we've done in years for the fish-a-ree. Looking forward to next year......... Big Smile
