FISHING REPORT

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 91° - 95° F
Went up to check out Crystal Lake for the first time yesterday. Didnt get on the road until 1:00 pm. When we got up there it was sunny and ridiculously hot. We only fished for a bit, and all I caught was one puny LMB. Maybe 10 or 11 inches. Just casted some cranks and spinnerbaits from shore. Definitely will visit when its not so hot and I have my boat.

Had a little time Sunday and Wednesday. Went out Sunday morning for about an hour or so after a brief storm. Caught a variety if nothing else. Caught 3 decent bluegill, 1 pumpkinseed, 1 striper (didn't know they were even in there), 1 perch (honestly small than a shad rap), and 1 ugly bullhead.

Wednesday night, went out from about 7:45 to 9:00. Again a variety. 5 bluegill (3 decent to nice), 1 pumpkinseed, 2 largemouth (1 nice), and another ugly bullhead.

Both times caught on leafworm or jumbo red under a bobber. All fishing from shore.

Hey guys I wanted to head up for a couple of hours before work tonight. I'm a shore fisherman and I'm just wondering if anyone knows where I could find some action from shore. Would like to catch bass or catfish but I'm good with any species. Thanks.

Fished last tues. afternoon and pulled in a 14" black crappie. a 12-13" white and lost several nice blacks. Grandson got a couple huge bullheads, the largest I've ever seen from this lake. As for the gills, I believe they are just starting on the beds and should take off soon. We caught and released 5-6 smalls.

Hello all, I just moved to the area last year and did pretty well out on the ice this past winter but not quite as good so far on the open water... Just wondering if anyone maybe has a couple of pointers for fishing from shore (mainly on the south side of the lake)? I've caught a few white bass and bluegills (all returned to the water) but no crappie or any decent largemouth yet. If anyone wanted to share an area that they maybe heard was an alright spot or decent lures that might catch a fish or two, it would be greatly appreciated! If it makes any difference, I predominately practice catch and release. Feel free to PM me if you'd like, and thanks in advance for any leads!

Hey guys,

I haven't been here since 2007 or so but would like to come back this summer. I can not find a topo/contour map online-just wondering if anyone knows where to find one. I know the DNR does not even provide one and looked back through all 1800 posts here but no luck. I know all about the water quality and water level issues here but is the public launch on south shore usable for a larger (18'+) boat anymore? I see the campground is my only other option for now.

Feel free to message me so we don't clutter up the thread-thanks in advance.

Crappies are moving in. You can reach them from shore, would have better luck in a boat if you have one. Cool

Thanks for the info, I misunderstood you this winter when we talked about it, I thought they were putting a new boat landing in. Was good fishing with you this winter, hope to get on the water with you this spring.

As I said a while back, there're ideas to build a new launch at the old gravel quarry and move the road behind it. Like I said it's just an idea right now and far from completion, not sure what they want to do with the current launch. Cool
