Thanks for the info, I misunderstood you this winter when we talked about it, I thought they were putting a new boat landing in. Was good fishing with you this winter, hope to get on the water with you this spring.

As I said a while back, there're ideas to build a new launch at the old gravel quarry and move the road behind it. Like I said it's just an idea right now and far from completion, not sure what they want to do with the current launch. Cool

This lake is a waste of time until the DNR wants to put some money into rebuilding the landing! That is the bottom line.

Public launch is still there, but some of it's still underwater. Room for a couple of trailers. Campground has it's launch open for a $10 fee, $50 for a year round pass. Watched the DNR as they pulled up a fish trap and they were scooping out all kinds of fish, not sure what all was in there. Cool

I see the DNR had survey nets out last week. Does anybody have any reports on what they found?

What's the boat landing situation for Crystal this year? Can you launch at the campground? Thanks

FISHING REPORT
4/1/15 11:55 AM CST
Had a pretty good year ice fishing, despite the lack of pressure seen the last few years. Early ice the lake was on fire, but you had to go out at night, during the day you were almost wasting your time. It slowed down a lot later in the year like it does everywhere else. Some nice bass weights were brought in during the jamboree. Top 3 bass were all over 5 and a half pounds. Got some good news to report. In case you haven't been by the lake lately it is being SUCKED DRY!!. This whole pumping project that only took 8 years to complete is actually working!! It's still about 15" above the "normal" high water mark set by the DNR, and will have to be shut down in about a month pending an algae bloom of biblical proportions. The DNR also extended the waste water discharge permit for Crystal Lake RV Resort until a time I can't recall. Also the foreclosure process took a long time, but the place got sold just yesterday to an owner that actually cares. Things are starting to look better for this place!! Cool

FISHING REPORT
3/13/15 7:41 AM CST
Ice Depth: 20" Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 51° - 55° F
late report, fished again Wed afternoon from 4-730p, ice is very soft, the top 2-4" is honey combed, seen a guy drive his truck out to the same spot, I would not take a chance, its not that bad to walk on. Caught a few 7-8" gills, caught some perch that I released, 2-3 spikes seem to work the best. Rthunder

Fished last night from 4pm-730pm,11' of water caught alot of 7-8" crappies all released, couple nice perch also released, 1 decent gill, ice is thick but its soft ice, seen some guy drive his truck out to middle by us, I thought he was nuts. Wear creepers the ice is slippery, water standing in some places on the ice, other than that it was a nice walk and great day to fish.
