John booked a half day guide trip for 3 people today with me out on Castle Rock. John along with his family are spending a 4 day vacation on "The Rock" fishing, boating and water skiing.

Today we launched the boat at 9 am and fished till 2 pm, Water temp cooled down some with the storms that passed through yesterday. Water temp was 74.5 at 9 am and around 77.8 the time we left the water.

Today John and the boys just wanted to have a fun time and catch some fish. Today we jigged live bait the entire guide trip. 1/8th oz weedless jigs tipped with half crawler or leech, crawler working the best today!

Today we ended up catching a mixed bag of fish, "Keeper walleyes",  Short walleyes,Smallmouth Bass,Bluegills, Sheepsheads and channel Catfish, lost a couple good fish right at boat side, looked to be a couple mid 20's slot walleyes.

Anyone looking to book a trip, I have a few dates still open for the month of July.

Good luck,be safe!

Late report from Monday 7/9

Tom from Texas booked a full day guide trip with me out on "The Rock" Tom is up spending a few weeks at his condo on Castle Rock!

We launched the boat at 6 am and fished till 2 pm. Water temp was 77.8 when we launched the boat and by the time we left the lake, the water temp was over 80

Wind was out of the south east the entire trip. Lake was very green on the east side up towards the train tracks, south down towards devils and the fingers was not as bad.

Tom wanted to learn a few areas out on cast rock to fish, We started the day jigging the main river channel, 1/8 oz weedless jigs tipped with half crawler worked the best for us. Mid day we ran out on the main lake and trolled a few areas in 15 to 20 f.ow.Lots of fish on Monday jigging, we caught a good number of gills, walleyes, few nice bass,Drum, perch, white bass and cats. Trolling we only landed a hand full of fish on the small side.Everything on Monday went back to fight another day!

I still have a few days open this next week, if anyone would like to get out on Castle Rock!

July- 19th,20th,21st and 22nd

Good luck be safe!

For anybody looking to shoot carp in the feeder creeks. The visibility is very low. There are a lot of game fish in there like Muskies and Pike. In the past we have seen a lot of Muskie shot with Bow. Please be careful be sure of your target. And if you can't see what's beyond the target because of visability you probably  shouldn't be there.

I have seen boats out shooting carp when I launch my boat.  Underneath the bridge in that bay. I think you can find carp to shoot in it just about any one of those shallow Bays in the lake

(Little Roche-A-Cri Creek Boat Ramp) if you Google this you will be able to see where it is on a map. Hope this helps

This time of year you can usually find carp under the long piers at Northern Bay or at the Dirty Turtle.

Nick booked a morning trip on "The Rock" for Monday. He recently purchased a Lund and had a new Humminbird Helix 9, and Minn Kota Terrova mounted. He wanted help setting them up, and instruction on how to interpret the display on the locator, and get familiar with the functions of the trolling motor, so we fished out of his boat today. We hopped around to four different locations so he could get a few GPS locations to try. We soaked dead rods and jigged for a while in each location, but the bite was slow with only "shorties" and 1 crappie to show for it, but the main point of the trip was instructional.

Keep a tight line!!!

Algae conditions were worse 2 weekends ago than last weekend but can change daily. You can take people upriver where there's always less algae. As for walleye fishing it's been a tough summer so far for me catching legals.         At least the Grandson is getting alot of water time.

How is the green algae on the lake right now? How might it be a week from this Thursday.  Have HUGE family reunion at Northern Bay 19-23 and want to spend much time on the lake.  Any info on what to expect would be super.  Many Thanks!
