Slaying the sheephead and 2 catfish. LOL! I need to find a different spot. Going to try by the dam.
Where is “The Rock.” I’m by Northern Bay resort. Is it near?
A friend and I got out trolling Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Windy & wave conditions made for a bit of a challenge trolling. Interesting to note 3 Drum hitting our trolling lures (have not had that happen before). Nailed a bunch of short-eyes, 1 legal plus some white bass and one 4lb Catfish. Good to see the white bass again as they have been sparse the past year. All Released for another day. Flicker Shads did the trick this time in 7 to 14 fow.
Fished the rock this weekend with some buddies from school. Ended up boating 30-40 shorts 2 monster slab crappie, a very nice 26” 6.5lb eye and a monster buffalo that was snagged while trolling. Thanks a lot to Jerry for givin me a couple tips!
Joe and Becky from Tucson Arizona spend 6 weeks in the area every summer and booked a morning trip on "The Rock". The wind was blowing about 5-10 mph right out of the east when when we launched at 6 am and increased to about 20 by the time we put the boat back on the trailer. We started the day jigging and soaking dead rods on the channel near the Buckhorn Bridge, then switched to trolling. The bite was a little tough today, but we managed to boat a bunch of "shorties", some crappies, white bass, blue gill, and catfish.
Keep a tight line!!!
Brian book a half day guide trip with his wife, with me today out on the "Rock"
We launched the boat at 6 am and fished till 11 am. Water temp was 71 in the early morning and around 77 when we left the lake. Today we had very little wind out of the south east.
Today we trolled cranks and boards the entire trip. we started out fishing in 8 to 10 f.o.w. mid morning we trolled the edge of the main river channel in 14 to 18 f.o.w.
Today we caught a mixed bag of fish, walleyes, white bass, cats, gills and sheepsheads.
Anyone looking to get out on the "Rock", i have a few openings for June/July
Good luck,be safe!
Jon from Mukwonago and his wife recently purchased a house north of the trestle on "The Rock" and wanted to learn a little about the lake. He mostly fishes the river for bass and pike, so jigging spots and learning how to use planer boards were on the to-do list. We soaked dead rods and jigged four different locations form south of the trestle to near the Buckhorn Bridge, then trolled hard baits for a while. We boated walleyes, crappies, and white bass before ending the morning in a light rain.
Mike booked a full day guide trip for 4 people with me today out on the "Rock"
We launched the boat at 6 am and fished till 3 pm, water temp was 71 when we launched the boat and didn't get much warmer as the day went on. Cloud cover, little rain and cold front hit mid day making it a little cool at times.
Today we trolled cranks and boards the entire trip. #5 flicker shads trolled at 1.9 to 2.1 worked the best.
Ended the day with a bunch of short walleyes,1 keeper, 2 pike,5 cats, bunch of white bass and a few crappies.
I still have June - 12th,14th,15th,17th,20th and 22nd available for full or half day guide trips.
Good luck, be safe!
Brian booked a full day guide trip on Thursday with me out on the "Rock"
We launched the boat at 7 am, Started out the morning jigging wood a long the main river channel. There we boated just a few walleyes, sheepsheads, cats and 1 smallie , 1/8 oz weed less jig tipped with half crawler worked the best. At noon we switched thing up, We put the jig sticks away and pulled out the trolling rods. Trolling we boated a bunch of white bass, 2 big crappies, 10 to 15 short walleyes, 2 keepers and 1 in the slot. Sure needed some wind yesterday, Lake was like glass and it was very hot!
Anyone looking to book a trip, I have a few openings for the month of June/July
Good luck be safe!
Bob and Linda from Missouri are staying in the Dells and booked a morning trip on "The Rock". We started the morning working jigs and dead rods along channel edges around wood and boated some walleyes and crappies. They have never seen planer boards used so we trolled to finish the trip. They wanted to keep 2 for supper so we put a couple 18 inchers in the live well for them. We ended with some "keepers". a lot of "shorties", a bunch of white bass, and sheep's head, some crappies, and 2 northern pike.
Keep a tight line!!!
Looking to take my 3 year old and fiance camping in a week or 2. Just curious if anyone knows how the shore fishing is by buckhorn park? Or if anyone has any suggestions for shore fishing in the area? Trying to see if i cant get my son to tie into a couple fish. If he had the patience/ attention span id look into renting a boat somewhere, but guessing it will be short lived unless hes catching/seeing fish.
