Jeff from West Bend booked a catch and release trip for this morning along with his wife Debbie and their son Dan on "The Rock". We launched at 6 am right after the cold rain ended that started Monday morning. Water temperature was 60.2 which is a bit on the cool side for late May. They have not put a lot of fishing time on the lake and just installed a Humminbird gps/sonar with a Lake Master data card and wanted to know how to interpret what is on the screen and find some locations to try. We started off soaking dead rods and jigging in a couple of spots, then tried the bobber rods for a short time, and trolled with planer boards and cranks to end the morning. Finished with a mixed bag of "shorties", and "keeper" walleyes, crappies, white bass, perch, and Debbie boated a big catfish that gave her about a five minute battle.

Keep a tight line!!!

Went out this weekend and caught a few keeper walleyes, but a lot of shorts.  However, my crew and I never caught any crappies or white bass.  Did we miss them or haven't they moved yet?

Saturday 5/5

Pete booked a morning trip for Saturday along with his wife Deb. They purchased a condo last fall and had never fished the lake so we went out doing a little jigging and soaking dead rods with fat-heads and rosie reds on both side of the Buckhorn Bridge, then tried slip bobbers in the Little Yellow for a short time. We boated a lot of "shorties", some "keepers", and slot fish by the bridge, and crappies and small walleyes in the Little Yellow.

Keep a tight line!!!

Friday 5/4

Josh booked a trip on "The Rock" for Friday morning with his friends Steve and Ivan. We didn't get started until 8 am waiting out the morning rain. Steve and Ivan had never fished before, and Josh mostly fishes for bass and pan fish on small Illinois lakes. None of them had ever jigged for walleyes. They weren't interested in keeping fish, just wanted to spend some time on the water. We jigged near the bridge then pulled cranks for a while. They boated over 30 fish, including walleye, white bass, and sheeps head.

Keep a tight line!!!

My buddies and I went on a 3 day trip to the Rock Monday-Wednesday.  Started out at the trestle and basically got skunked.  The water temp was high 40's and probably a little too cold to get active fish.  We decided to try the other side of the lake by the Buckhorn bridge (water temp was almost 10 degrees higher in that bay) and had a lot more success.  Probably caught 60-70 fish and cleaned 3.  Also caught this northern which was a lot of fun.
