FISHING REPORT
2/9/13 6:22 AM CST
Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 26° - 30° F
Took the day off and headed out on 2/8. Went to find the weeds on Univ Bay and tip up fish. Found some in 4 ft, not too far from the bar.. Ran flags in that area and out to 11 ft. Nothing. 6 flags out. Moved a few flags shallower, deeper.. The water didn't look cleared up yet, probably part of the problem.

Ice Depth: 12"
Tip up fishing for pike has been very slow for me this year so far. No more than 2 fish per trip and have been skunked twice. Fishing weeds/edges (5-12ft) near shore. If anyone has any info on fishing for cats im all ears. Looking to try something new, and I'm even worse at fishing perch/walleye lol. Thanks guys, and good luck

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 17"
I fished out of Govoner's Island for last weekend and for a few days straight earlier this week, and out of Tinney park for a day or so. The water was a little more stained the last several days versus the early part of last weekend.

The perch were on and off in 60-70 feet of water. Some limits, some slow days. Jig heads and spikes on pencil sinkers were the technique many were using. You can easily see the line of shacks where the transition is from shallow to deep water. It is a nice long walk. I like the ATV shuttle idea. I'm sure many guys would appreciate the ride out.

Looked for Northern off Tinney park with no success. Caught a couple cats over several hours and days in the shallower water north of the perch spot. No fast action there either. Good luck. Ice was very solid throughout the lake from my experience.

Conditions: Snowing
Yes, the water was a reddish brown out in 65 fow from Governor's Island on Thursday. In contrast, when I first got out there perch fishing on Jan 24, it was clear as a bell.

dad and uncle went to the union yesterday morning. fished for about and hour then decided to move because the water looked like chocolate milk. also they were pounding steel poles into the lake, causing the ice to vibrate.

Hello,

Does anyone know if the water cleared up since last weekend? It was pretty muddy looking.

Thanks!

I was out by Governors Island in 60-70fow. No luck, have been skunked for 3 days straight. Marking fish but no takers. Have used everything but spikes, might have to try that tomorrow. Does anyone know where I can get my auger blades resharpened? Thanks!

seen a bunch of perch fishermen out yesterday. Wondering if they are still doing good. Hows the water clarity? What colors are producing fish.

Per the ice divers out by the Union mooring field last Saturday, it was "like mud". On the other side of the lake on Sunday though it was much better. Rick

Dane County Sheriff enforces the floatation and weight restrictions on lakes Mendota, Monona, and Wingra! DNR only enforces registration, wreck less driving, and owi on the ice. They don't enforce the other laws, just like they don't issue trespassing or hunting within city limit tickets.

Cool buddy. Was just letting you know, no need to get so up tight about something. I got in trouble with the DNR not the sheriff's.

I believe it was 2009 fishing season or maybe 2010 but thats when we had the high water and I absolutly slayed fish and then for the past couple years fishing hasnt been the same, because of the low water
