Anyone have any idea how the ice is on the Willow? I'm trying to find some decent ice to try and hook up some tight lines over the weekend. Panfish/Walleye are all game.

Fished Wednesday for walleyes on the willow. What a beautiful day to be on the lake in November. Water temps were around 37 degrees and we worked for are fish, getting 5 keepers around 15 shorts and 20 pike in around 6.5 hours of fishing. Thanks Bill it’s been awhile. I’m booking ice fishing trips from the 20th December through February 20th then on to the Wisconsin river for a month for anyone who wants to get out.

I'm with Snuff. I bought a glacier single axle house and would love to bring it up here to fish but know there is often too much snow and nobody really plows and good roads. I live in Minnesota so more than likely will spend most of my time fishing big lakes over here but am often in Minocqua throughout the year visiting my folks. I did see one on the north end of Big Arb last year but man I have no idea how that guy got it out there in the first place or even got it off with all the snow.

To all the good folks that fished with me in 2023 thank you, had lots of fun on the water with new friends and old too. Thanks again. With that said ice fishing for me will start December 15th on the willow Flowage through February 20th. Looking forward to crappies and some walleye’s this year on the ice. Thanks.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/brojSxumXLudh8y78  Link should be for Sandy Landing.  I wouldn't haul anything permanent and heavy beyond the first couple hundred yards.  At some point to fish most places you have to travel over the river channel which has fluctuating ice thickness.  I almost never take a car / truck out here.  I take atv. I fish many other local lakes and don't mind auto travel, but out here is a lot riskier.  Do people do it?  Yes.  Does someone drop a vehicle through the ice every year?  Also yes...

New to the area, but wondering how difficult it is to get on and off the lake here with a small ice castle? Wasn’t sure about what the ice is like here and steepness of ramps. Any info is appreciated!

Thank You

Wednesday, Mark came out fishing. Talk about a cold day. We had to really work hard. We used small jigs and plastics in 14' water. Mark caught 2 nice walleye and some good-sized crappies.
It was a good way to end the fishing season. Now, just to wait for the water to freeze to start ice fishing.

This is a follow up post on my recent trip this past Sunday on willow flowage. My dad and I had a unforgettable day on the water from start to finish with Dave Joswiak guide services. I knew it was bound to be a great experience when we were walking to the ramp and Dave already had the boat launched and ready to fish earlier than our start time.  We were thrilled to boat 100+quality fish, but what stood out to me and I value  most was the education  we received on locating fish and interpreting livescope. " Crappie hunting" truly is an art that Dave has mastered. It was a pleasure to receive this knowledge and experience firsthand from such a down to earth good- hearted man. I look forward to future outings/recommend Dave as a fishing guide, but more importantly as a teacher, and a friend.
