Steve booked a full day guide trip out on Lake Redstone on Friday 6/22

We launched the boat from the north end launch at 7 am and fished till 3:30 pm. Water temp was around 70 for most of the morning, sun was in and out for most of the day, till late afternoon.

On Friday Steve wanted to learn a few new spots to fish out on the lake. We jumped around from spot to spot catching fish in just about every spot we fish. Weedless jigs tipped with plastics/ minnows worked the best. On Friday most of our fish we caught came off the main brake along wood in 14 to 18 f.o.w. Few fish up shallow in 4 to 6 f.o.w.

Good luck,be safe!

Fish the afternoon with a family of 4 who wanted to target panfish on "Redstone"

We launched the boat from the north end landing at 1 pm and fished till 6 pm.

water temp was 77 the entire afternoon

Today we fished many different spots, out on the main lake, down in the narrows and up in section 11. Most of our fish today came on "slip bobbers" plain red hook tipped with red worm tight to shore for the gills, crappies came on 1/16 oz weedless jigs tipped with plastics out deep on the brake around wood.

Guys took home a bunch of gills and 1 crappie, everything else went back to fight another day!

Good luck,be safe!

Mark booked a half day guide trip with me out on "Lake Redstone"

I have fished with mark many times over the past 3 years and 4 this spring for walleyes and white bass.

We launched the boat at 7 am from the north end. We headed out to the main lake after launching the boat to catch 3 small crappies before we had to head in with a storm passing over. Sat in truck for about 30 mins like others did and headed back out after the storm. we jumped all over the main lake, the narrows and down towards the dam catching fish in every spot we fished. Gills are still sitting on beds up tight to shore, with sand and some timber. Still a lot of crappies up shallow mostly smaller crappies in the 6" to 8' range. Bigger crappies came out on the brake in 12 to 18 f.o.w. All of the our fish came on small jigs tipped with plastics.

"For the guys asking about shooting carp!" The are all over spawning up tight to shore in the north end  and out on the main lake. Water is still very dirty visibility is around 8" to 12"

Good luck,be safe!

As far as bowfishing for carp, most years the carp are spawning in the shallow bays by Memorial Day, but I didn’t see any over the weekend.  Someone else said he saw them in the north bays.  Visibility is maybe 12 inches.  The carp need to be rolling on the top to have a shot at them.

Regarding bluegill spawn - I think it is still going on, given the late spring.  I was using my side finder to try to find some bed, but didn’t see any.  The top of the war we is warm, but the bottom is still pretty cold.

How dirty is the water? Can you see bottom? I would like to try Bowfishing but not sure what the lake is like. Feel free to pm me, thanks.

Anybody try to target carp with a rod and reel?  I see people bowfishing for them.  Seems there are a lot of them in the lake.  I've never caught one, but I've never really tried either.  They look pretty big and could be fun to catch.  I'd imagine they'd be up on the north side of the lake in the shallower bays?

I was out fishing over the weekend.  Not too many people out fishing.  The mornings and evenings were quiet, but lots of boat activity during the days.  Picked up some bluegil (mostly small) on the bottom using nightcrawlers and powerbait, and some crappie (also small) on slip bobbers with minnows.  Talked to some bass fisherman casting shorelines, and they weren't having much luck.
