Both still very nice fish. My uncle has a 17 1/2 out of a small pond on a marsh, so I would sure think they are in there, and I have seen a same sized fish from a local lake here a few years ago. I have a couple 12-13" crappies this year I thought were bass.

In which case thats perty close. And anything over a half is rounded UP! Like a lawyer, I can turn a sinner into a saint. If ya ain't lyin' ya ain't fishin'! Ha!

Ice Ryder, your not supposed to post photographic evidence if your going to stretch the "tale" of a fish by an inch.
All kidding aside, very nice catch! Congrats!
This is a pic of one I got a few weeks ago. Just a hair under 15". Thought I had a cat on at the time. He's gonna go on the wall. Personally I think they can get alot bigger on this body of water.

FISHING REPORT
3/29/13 8:12 PM CST
Ice Depth: 20" Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 46° - 50° F
Just wanted to add to Jesse's post. Went out on the 28th. Had a fantastic time! Had ice fished Pete at least a dozen times over the years with very little success. This trip produced more fish than probably all other ice trips to the Pete I have done with the guys/son combined. All in all, 33 crappie (with biggest 14") and white bass, 5 catfish and one walleye of the 10" variety. Colors were bright and varied and didn't seem to matter so long as they were bright. Seemed the larger rosies caught the catfish on tip downs while the smaller ones kept pulling crappies. Tight lines while it lasts! Thanks again Jessie and I'd recommend him to anyone!

FISHING REPORT
3/29/13 7:00 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny
Walked south off Longview, my last trip. Walked all the way out to just north of Monroe at daybreak. Walked home at noon. Lots of fish until about 8-8:30. First lite bite was jig and waxie, then the tip down Rosies went. Most of the day they wanted minnow like others said. If they could be called in they hit, lite at times. 10 crappie, 2 cats, 1 walleye. 1 crappie today was 14". Got me thinkin. I only remember 3 craps below 10" all winter. This my first on ice here in WI. Is this normal? Will crappie be as good #s and size next year? Will walleyes be bette?. All crappie today were 11 or 12" and the one 14".

FISHING REPORT
3/29/13 5:53 PM CST
Have been driving out and fishing off of Monroe park for the last couple of weeks, but after reading Jesse's report from yesterday decided to walk out from Longview. Was surprised when I got out to my spot that there were still several vehicles out off Monroe park. By early afternoon however the number had dwindled to almost zero. Don't know if it was because of a slow bite or more worry about getting off due to another day of sun and higher temps. As for me the fishing started out slow then got fairly hot for a couple of hours. Pretty muched marked fish from 10 until noon and the tipdown and slip bobber were going down regularly. Things did slow though after noon. Ended up with 12 crappies, 9 whitebass, and one cat. Rosies on a plain hook did better then jigging; at least for me. Not alot of people out, but those I could see all seemed to be catching some fish. If this weather keeps up and if we get rain its going to get hard to get off the shores very soon.

FISHING REPORT

Was out today on the last ice guide trip till next ice season. The ice is getting very bad around the edges. If you head out on the ice dont go alone and play it safe. Fishing was slower today then yesterday. We all caught 8 to 12 crappies and white bass. Fish Wanted minnows more than jigs or spoons. Rosies worked the best. Sounds like rain for tonight and tomorrow. Its time to hit the river. Hope we get some flow soon.

Watched the last truck come of the lake last night. Landing at Monroe Town park is getting bad. One more sunny day and to many vehicles will be the end of it. Be carful and ATV might be the better idea. Caught a dozen fish in the morning and got off the lake early. Happy Fishing, think open water.

I believe those are Larry's shacks. If you look where they are sitting, they won't be in the water anytime soon. They are sitting on a sand bar that is about 4-5 feet higher than the ice sitting where there is water. There is zero water under those shacks other than the ice.

I also was on the Pettenwell yesterday if I am not mistaken the shacks belong to Larry Smith maybe he has a special agreement with warden Miller to leave his shacks on the ice. Slow day fishing fish would move but not commit.

I took a atv ride yesterday on pete and what is the deal with the silver shacks out there yet I thought they had to be off by the 5th of march not april? Are we going to have some new forms of structure out there this year with them in the lake? Or are they considered being abandon if they are still out there any info on that would be great thanks
