There are some cribs around Kieth Island that produce good size smallies for me while taking a break from casting for Muskie but I wouldn't go out of my way to bass fish here.

In regards to the bass, I've fished it for muskies predominantly and occasionally would take a break for bass. Within the past 2-3 years I've caught LMBs up to the upper teens on musky baits, and smallies up to 19" while briefly targeting them. Take that for whatever it's worth.

The 20"+ bass population in Big is few in my experience. I have camped and fished at Big Lake for over a decade. I guess I wouldn't consider it a bass lake. I'd consider it more a musky and walleye lake. Decent but not stellar panfish population. Maybe others have a different bass experience than I.

I would say the Manitowish Chain of Lakes would be good for bass with potential for 20" fish.

Looking for some info on this lake. I live a couple hours away and was wondering if it's worth driving to for bass fishing. I would like to target smallies. If anyone would give me some info it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to know where or how to fish the lake, just wondering if there are a lot of 20"+ fish in this lake. You can send me private message if you want. Thanks in advance.

Musky were no existant for my son and I this past weekend. Hit some good areas that have produced in the past, nothing. GW met us at the landing on our way off. Gave me a warning for no lights. I was lucky, should have gotten written up, thank you again!!

Just a friendly reminder...

If you're not familiar w/ this lake, please use caution. There are some nasty rock bars out there.

I took the shortcut between the reef and Scotch Point on Sunday. A very expensive looking boat followed shortly behind me, but didn't cut it close enough and ran up on the rocks.

It looked like a pretty violent collision.

I am thinking of doing a day trip on what used to be one of my favorite muskie lakes, Big Lake (CTH K), Boulder Jct. I have not been over there for approx 10 yrs. I was wondering how the lake condition is? If it has gotten hit by any weed probs and how the muskie fishing has been over the last few years?

Any info would be greatly apprectiated

Thanx Dean

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Fished creek inlet (weed edges) on both Saturday and Sunday. High winds made it very tough to hold anchors. Got shut out both days. There were some nice green weeds already in place, so looking forward to getting back there on a better day. The good news is that they have a new dock at the boat landing, and have repaved both lower and upper parking areas. Floating dock is excellent. Campground was open, and a few braved the winds to camp out.

fished 1/23 all day on south end with a bunch of guys... fished hard for panfish and only caught 3 little perch... landed two very small pike on tip-ups... talked to others fishing and it was slow for everybody... wind was out of the east, so maybe that was why...? it was my first time on this lake and i couldn't believe how clear it was... getting on the lake was a nightmare of journey...
