Does anyone have an ice report for this lake? I am trying to find new lakes to ice fish in the area. Thanks in advance.

Musky were no existant for my son and I this past weekend. Hit some good areas that have produced in the past, nothing. GW met us at the landing on our way off. Gave me a warning for no lights. I was lucky, should have gotten written up, thank you again!!

Just a friendly reminder...

If you're not familiar w/ this lake, please use caution. There are some nasty rock bars out there.

I took the shortcut between the reef and Scotch Point on Sunday. A very expensive looking boat followed shortly behind me, but didn't cut it close enough and ran up on the rocks.

It looked like a pretty violent collision.

I am thinking of doing a day trip on what used to be one of my favorite muskie lakes, Big Lake (CTH K), Boulder Jct. I have not been over there for approx 10 yrs. I was wondering how the lake condition is? If it has gotten hit by any weed probs and how the muskie fishing has been over the last few years?

Any info would be greatly apprectiated

Thanx Dean

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Fished creek inlet (weed edges) on both Saturday and Sunday. High winds made it very tough to hold anchors. Got shut out both days. There were some nice green weeds already in place, so looking forward to getting back there on a better day. The good news is that they have a new dock at the boat landing, and have repaved both lower and upper parking areas. Floating dock is excellent. Campground was open, and a few braved the winds to camp out.

fished 1/23 all day on south end with a bunch of guys... fished hard for panfish and only caught 3 little perch... landed two very small pike on tip-ups... talked to others fishing and it was slow for everybody... wind was out of the east, so maybe that was why...? it was my first time on this lake and i couldn't believe how clear it was... getting on the lake was a nightmare of journey...

The gate is closed and nobody has driven anything out except snowmobiles and ATV's.

Hope to get out on Big the 23rd or 24th. Is the campground gate open or closed? When I talked to Petterson in fall he did not decide yet if the gate would remain closed over winter ice fishing. Are they driving on yet?

Thanks for the info.

Pescator(and others) - If you really believe that the gate at the campground sucks, then perhaps you should call/email Steve Peterson and tell him how you feel. I posted his contact information below.

These career bureaucrats make these stupid decisions and answer to nobody! The only recourse we have to is continually voice our displeasure.

You can not complain if you sit back and do absolutely nothing.

Crypto, Here is the thread you were looking for...as for the fishing this autumn, haven't been out since Labor day on this body of water...once again, the walleye were not where they have been in the past, seems like they stayed deep..20-30 feet of water late summer. right above what thermocline did develop. That four weeks of high pressure really kept them down deep. Hopefully next year we will have a warm summer and get those devils into a good weed pattern. Ice is at least three/four weeks off, depending on what this weather decides to do, so time to either freeze your butt off fishing, or get things ready for hard water. I am choosing the latter! To bad about the gate at the campground...that sucks...some people will be really p.o. about that...
