FISHING REPORT
5/9/13 7:58 PM CST
Conditions: Raining Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 61° - 65° F
6:30 am launch from Lake Farm, first trailer in the lot. Started off Hog Island, found no weeds and no fish. Moved to the front of the launch and picked up two crappies. Moved to upper Mud including the channel near the freeway and picked up the balance of our catch of 17 fish, crappies & gills for the two of us. Slow fishing. Female gills had the beginnings of eggs but not near ready to spawn. Used rat finkies tipped with waxies, 1" gulp minnows, and gulp red worms. Bite was very light all day. Finally there was a lot of algae floating all over both lakes and a constant layer of poor visibility in both lakes that went down 4 1/2 ft. Below that layer the water was clear. Tight lines.

To reiterate alaska123's question, what is the story with the Babcock park dam? Is there construction going on? Is it open for boats to pass under the bridge? PM me if you'd like. I would like to go there possibly tomorrow but I have never been over there and would like to fish down the river a bit.

Planning on making Waubesa a place to try this summer coming from Chicago. How is the crappie fishing in this lake? We usually head farther north but would love a shorter drive.

Fished for a bit today with bassindude. Surface temps ranged from 63 to 69 degrees depending on where we were. Saw a very sick northern in the shallows as well as some cruising muskies. Muskie action today was nil for us, but we'll keep plugging.

Went to Lake Farm boat launch to attempt to use the new waders and see if I'd luckily come upon the set of lost keys I surmise is somewhere on the bottom.

Lake level is much higher than in the fall....was up to mid chest and I never got past the L shaped dock on the far left. Used the garden rake some along the left hand side to no avail. Could only see the bottom in the first 5' from shore....pretty dark/muddy water and a fair amount of floating weeds already. A few winter kill/unwanted species at shoreline.

Had about 20 min and based on previous reports of bass being shallow, figured I'd throw a few lines.....threw a shallow running Mimic Minnow with a small spinner on it, then a Zara Spook puppy topwater....nothing.

Had a few boaters come in during the time I was there, didn't see anyone dealing with fresh catch.
