FISHING REPORT
8/10/12 7:23 AM CST
Conditions: Raining Air Temp: 66° - 70° F Water Temp: 76° - 80º F
I was the village idiot, fishing in the rain yesterday, 11 to 4, wasn't that bad, of course I had the roof up so stayed fairly dry to a point. Wind kept me on the east end of lake, fish were biting but nothing to brag about, 7 very average gills, 4 whites,6 sheep and a pile of thoses small yellows, and a boat load of water. Everything released was in 9/10 ft. of water most of the time, sounds like I should try 4 ft., used red worms and waxies. Back as soon as things dry out, good luck all.

Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 61° - 65° F Water Temp: 71° - 75° F
On at 8 off at 2:30. Mixed bag today. Very little on IRON. Minnows and worms were the hot ones today. 6 Smallmouth 2 pike 2 walleyes Lots of white bass yellow bass sheepshead along with a few bluegills and crappies. All fish caught drifting in 4 to seven feet of water. Went through 3 dozen x large fatheads. Rain stated at 12:30. We got soaked and left when the minnows ran out. They must have been biting. As there was 2 other boats out there in all that rain. They looked to be fishing deeper. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL HERO547

FISHING REPORT

Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 76° - 80º F Water Temp: Above 80° F
Fished 6am to 12:45. Beautiful conditions with the very light breeze and overcast. Started around Williams Point and picked up one crappie drifting across the point. Moved to the south shore around 10 and got some slow action in 10-14 fow fishing 6-8ft down with small jigs, waxies and short pieces of nightcrawlers on plain gold Tru Hook hooks. Used the trolling motor when the breeze stopped. Caught 8 1/2 to 9" gills either anchored or slow drifting but again the action was slow but the size made up for it. I caught 8 gills on the south shore and one nice crappie (Williams Point) and my partner got 6 gills. Also had 4 throw back white bass. Lots of jumping from the carp who like to bark when they surface, thought they were done for the year after spawning. Saw one couple floating around in life jackets while their young son fished from their boat. With 82 degree water, why not? Not a lot of fish but more than I had expected for the Keg. Good luck and safe fishing.

Report.... out tonight 330-730. Drifted in 30 FOW and got a Small BG right away and a whitey. Then nothing all the way to to east side. Got out in front of the boat launch by willams and got 2 nice bull gills. Never hot and heavy over there; but always get something. Tried by Willams, nuthuin, watched a couple cats catch a bunch of eyes. Wonder what i was doing wrong.

Nice night onda water.

today from 9 to 2pm. drifted east from the rockpile dragging couple waxies with 3/16th oz sinkers to get down...from 10' out to 20' deep. marked lots of fish but no takers. Same thing around Colladay Point, no luck. Out in front of the Country Club drifted east in 8' of water dragging small jig w/couple waxies...picked up 6 nice (8 1/2" to 9") bluegills & one 13" striped bass. Got pretty hot, so quit at 2pm about 90 degrees with very lite winds will eventually "git ya". Decided not to clean fish today & released them all . Better than working...

Hey All, Been to long since ive been to the keg. With the HOTT weather and life getting hectic; had to miss alot of good fishing; stopped 2nd week of June.

Heading out tonight with high hopes. Last year i had a really hard time finding the gills and eyes after the June spawn wrapped up. Spent LOTS of time out there getting skunked. Any pointers for where to locate some gills or eyes round dusk? My thought was to hit the pile for a while, but beyond that am sitting here scratching my head. PM me if prefer not to have a public discussion. Thanks any and all would be appreciated. Good luck to everyone out there!

fished sunday night 700-830 looking for bluegills. drifted around the rockpile various depths with slipbobbers & grubs..marked tons of fish...no luck. Moved northwest to about 6' of water casting 1/16th oz jig with a 1" mister twister..got into stripers for a while & had fun with them. Same bait picked up an 18" smallmouth...on ultralight equipment thought he would break either my line or pole...netted & released him after a photo...great fun, but no bluegills. will try for bluegills again tomorrow morning 8am. start. Will start again at the rockpile & drift out with small jigs & waxies. They are there, just gotta make em' bite.

Was out from 6:00pm to 8:30pm last night in the search for bass. I tell ya, earlier in the summer and even in the spring i had absolutely no issues catching piles of bass, recently i've been struggling pretty bad at locating them. Fished piers for a couple hours with NO strikes and finally found a little cover and ended up catching 4 bass consecutively all over 16" and biggest being just over 18". Has anyone else been struggling at piers as well? I've been throwing every thing from plastics to topwaters and everything in between. All fish swam away smiling.

Yesterday was one of our best outings in quite a while. Hooked 4 big northerns. Only got one into the boat 32". All healthy looking fish. Many, many follows. Using top waters and rapalas. Very exciting.

Saturday - Was on the hunt for some bass so i headed to the usual spots i've had luck at throwing senkos, other plastics, buzz baits, swim baits, spinners and could not hook into a bass to save my life. Ended up catching one 27" pike as my buzzbait bounced off of a dock, other than that it was a failure, just as i thought i had this lake figured out i'm left scratching my head. The wife was with me and she ended up catching some pretty nice blue gills with the slip bobber and crawler chunks.

Will have to look at the playbook and see what i can come up with.

On 6:30 off 1:30. Cloudy with a little wind early. Sun and no wind later. Started off throwing IRON. 1 pike 6 smallmouth 3 walleyes. Wind died and that was the end of the game fish for the rest of the day. Put the minnows on and caught whitebass yellowbass perch crappies and gills. All fish caught in 3 to 5 feet of water. kept 8 gills from 9 to 10 inches for a meal for Airforce. I took 1 walleye and the rest of the panfish. If the wind blew we caught fish. When it stopped we got none. Best of luck to all.

Hit the water at 5:45 left at noon, tried four of my usual spots, then drifted for the next 4 hours. A lot of fresh air is what I got unless you count the one average gill, sheephead and small white bass and smaller yellow bass. Guess I should have tried a foot & half of water, they certainly weren't deep. Saw Bluegill Kid, he gave me the thumbs down, later I ran into Planner Board, he was going to cast for northern saying panfishing was a waste of time. Two of the best fisherman on the lake so you got to believe them. We need more rain and cooler weather, so far July has been a lost cause.

Water temperature 82 Air 77 Water quality pea soup green. viability of water 1 1/2 in three feet. Out in deep water 2 to 4 feet. On at 7:30 off 2:30. Early no wind, late 20 miles per hour at least. Cloudy all day, with a few sprinkles. First time ever on this lake for both of us. So I am not sure if we did good or not. We got bluegills to 9 inches. 19 white bass, 5 were 14 inches the rest smaller. 1 largemouth and 11 smallmouth. 2 walleyes and 3 pike. Half on minnows and half throwing IRON. Half of fish caught in 1 1/2 to 3 feet of water. The rest in 4 to 8 feet. Best fishing was from 9:30 to 1:30. Airforce got all the big ones today. Thank GOD he was tangled up all the time. Other wise he would have put 10 more in the boat and ruined my reputation. Airforce left his GPS at home, so we had no idea where to fish. Best of luck to all.
