FISHING REPORT
2/2/13 9:34 PM CST
Ice Depth: 18"
Fished today with my buddy Danny and his son from 11am to about 6 pm at Tahoe park. We caught a bunch of short Walleyes that were between 14 and 16 inches none for the frying pan but still fun to catch. My buddy and I both lost real nice Perch that were 11inch plus. This was my first time fishing Beaver Dam and I had a lot of fun. Also if someone can tell me is the Dam that's right off Tahoe park is that the dam that everyone fishes in spring and summer. And if anyone has any other ice fishing spots one Beaver that would be greatly aprreciated. Thanks for any info. GOOD LUCK OUT THERE. Wink

Baits Motel There are several bad ice areas on Beaver Dam lake. There is lots of good ice too. The last we heard, the aerators are running out by the Spring Road area. Also there has been a crevice from Edgewater going north. Carol heard that was about 2 miles long. This lake also has springs that can make the ice unsafe in areas that were not a problem in the past years when the water was higher. Spring water is 54 degrees. That's hot water this time of year and it's this year the ice you are standing on is one foot closer to it. For visitors to the area unfamiliar with the ice, please don't drive on it. Yes, there are people driving on it, but just be advised that this lake can deceive you. There are pressure cracks that form in the cold, causing heaves and open water here. Just please use good judgement, just like when we all pick up our trash from the ice right?

The hot color for crappie right now is red. Red plastics, red jigs with silver blades, Cecils, Tungstens. Live bait trends are Red spikes, Red Fathead Minnows(Rosie Reds) and regular crappie fatheads. Golden shiners of all sizes, as the northerns, walleyes and yes, wonderful catfish are biting. Answers to most of the phone calls we are getting is, yes, we have more tip up lights. No, our rental ION ice augers were sold, but we hope too get more in this week. Yes, you can rent the big new Argo in the showroom. Yes, we have Omni batteries. No wigglers, no helgramites. We still have smelt. We wil get more propane tomorrrow. We do not have Coleman lantern fuel. For Jiffy parts please see Tim at Fish Tayles in Fox Lake. He is an authorized dealer. The walleyes have been smaller this week for those who have been toughing it out there in the cold, you are the masters. For those about to fish, we salute you. Baits Motel

Click the "area map" tab at the top of the thread. You've got all those beautiful brown trout in the Milwaukee harbors and you want to come to this cesspool?

Sorry not a report. I was just looking for help. I need help please on how to get to Beaver Dam Lake from Milwaukee pretty much once I get to hwy 33. I would also like help getting to public access. And 1 last thing how to get to the dam from 33. I really wanted to fish this lake for a couple years but I had a baby and haven't had a chance. I don't want anybody's honey hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to pm me and thanks in advance.

We were out off of Waterworks all day on Saturday, 1 short walleye and 2 cats. Alot of open water out there, be careful! It appeared to me that the heave that was there last week spread apart, 10 to 15 feet accross, hunderds of yards long. As for the bikes, they really didn't bother us at all. Most of the time they keep there distance. Besides it as something to watch when we were not catching fish (most of the day).

I was out there when the ice bikes were running around. It was annoying, at worse, from a fisherman's perspective but certainly not as bad as to shoot someone as another poster has suggested. I can see that the situation was potentially dangerous...but then again, so is just going out on the ice potentially dangerous. The only satisfaction I got was that one did take a spill. Fortunately he was o.k. - got back on his bike and carried on. They were actually quite skilled riders. At least it was something to watch compared to tip ups that weren't popping! I've got tentative plans on trying it again tonight but need to change something.....because THEY AIN'T BEEN BITE'N.

FISHING REPORT
1/28/13 7:27 AM CST
Ice Depth: 11" Conditions: Cloudy
Fished for 7 hours one drop and nothing else. Had a good time otherwise.

Fished 5-6 FOW Med Shinners

Also jigged for panfish with no hits.

I often wonder what it is that makes me go onto the ice. But after a bad day of fishing comes Mondays work and it doesnt seem all that bad to not catch any. (I hope I didnt steal someones quote)

Matchbook, what a dumb comment. you are high or drunk if you think shooting at them is the answer. you should probably be removed from society if that is how you operate
