As far as limits go I think it would  be hard to establish any long term goals. You have to remember BD is  a shallow body of water which is subject to periodic winter kill and depends mainly on stocking of game fish. It is not cheap to run aerators in the winter, I read somewhere it costs 40K a season and that was a couple of years ago.

kind of sad to see all the hundreds of baby crappie in the river below the dam. where will they end up?

Hearing all this does anyone remember a couple years ago when you could go out and catch 20 - 50 eyes casting cranks? When the limit was 15 inches. Is the 18 in size limit the answer  forcing guys to keep fish that might reproduce?  Maybe a 15- 20 and 1 over 28 slot work better?

I could see them doing the trolling regs for Northern Wisconsin. 1 line a person or 2 per boat max.  This would pissed my dad off though.   24 ft pontoon that is set up to Troll 12 rods each side and I have been on the boat when we had 24 rods on Beaver Dam.

Honestly I wouldn't mind trolling to be prohibited as it is the method most catch there fish here so it would be a more challenging. Leading to more population growth

Does anyone know if or when they will implement these changes?

I like the changes...except a trolling ban. Why would they want to ban trolling? I also wouldn't mind seeing a flat 15 fish panfish limit.

I like the everything proposed except for one thing. a trolling ban!. that's ridiculous. but the best thing for the lake in that proposal is raising the catfish limit. they're as bad as sheepshead on bago. not saying that catfish are garbage just saying they are by catch while walleye or panfishing.

Honestly I think it's good. It will turn out to be more like the Wisconsin river with lots and lots of walleyes and big ones too. also the panfish is agreeable as everybody comes to crappie and perch fish

Tried for some perch this past Sunday amidst the scattered rain storms and the wind. I had heard some secondhand reports of limits of nice sized perch about a week ago, but didnt know where, just that they had caught them on redworms. Started off Hickory Point area with only a few, all around 7 to 9 inches. Moved down the lake to get a bit more out of the wind and only got a few more perch in the same size range. Tons of little young of the year cats everywhere, but a few bigger ones we kept for the smoker mixed in as well as a couple big bullhead and 2 nice gills. All fish were caught on nightcrawlers and redworms under bobbers dead sticking over the side of the boat. I would've tried some hellgramites, but couldn't find any on the way up. On another note, all the cats were jam packed with crawfish in their stomachs.

Good luck and tight lines,

Blitz
