Conditions: Snowing Air Temp: 6° - 10° F
Yikes! A buddy and I were out from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drove up from Milwaukee hoping for the best. Ran 4 flags, jigged...literally everything for crappie/walleye. Swedish pimples, small spoons, ratfinkies, minnows, waxies...everything! Zero flags, one hit jigging with the Vexlar. We saw some fishies, but nothing wanted to play. Wish the best too all, but it seems to have slown since this cold...

Fished this lake alot over the years. Have been out a couple times this ice season, totally dead. Was dead this fall as well. Perch were nonexistent in the summer as well. Not sure what is up, maybe too much forage. I'm done there for the year.

The hits and drops I think are from small catfish. We get that a lot in the fall right before ice up, you'll land them if you switch to two trebles. But then you have to deal with the cat. Missing scales or crushed minnow are also dead giveaways.

While on the subject, I suggest using a single octopus hook instead of trebles. Rare to gut hook undersized fish with the octopus hook and I've not noticed a difference in hook up percentage.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought that's what this site is for. Sportsmen giving other sportsmen info on how and general idea of where to fish the lakes of Wisconsin. It's not like anyone has to hold someones hand and drill there holes for them, that's what Guides are there for. AND THEY GET PAID FOR THERE SERVICES. Why do some always give others crap for asking for advice before making a drive to a lake? Here is a BIG HOORAAA for those that do help, may your next big bite be that trophy you have been after.

I was thinking about fishing on the north end of the lake this weekend and was wondering if its safe to drive a truck out? I was thinking about using the landing at the springs or hickory point.

Aerators will be installed this weekend. Be careful

Testing indicates that dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in the lake have dropped significantly in the last few weeks. The average DO, measured in parts-per-million, dropped from 12ppm on December 17th to just under 6ppm on the 28th for the 7 sites sampled on the lake. We have decided to deploy the aerators on Saturday, the 11th of January and we are in need of volunteers (no experience necessary). We will be meeting at 7:00 am at Edgewater Park. Contact us by email if you are interested in helping out or call our office at (920) 356-1200.

Fished today with BDJ. Fished 3-9. 6 tip ups out and not a single flag. Had 15" of ice every hole we drilled. Only saw a couple other people out there and no action by them either.

Late report from Saturday decided to try the north end for the first time as it has been slow on the south end. Was out from 3:30-7 1 flag and one 24.5 inch eye released for another day. Not many people out there either only saw two other flags. I know its been slow this winter but how does it go from at the start of last year people were all over to the start of this year where there is only a few groups within sight. They must know more than I do!! Lots of factors that could be making fishing tougher but I would say its the lack of fishing pressure which is good for the veterans that know where the fish are all the time. Hopefully it picks up until then on to a different spot on the lake to find some numbers.

Was out on Friday night from 3:30-9 on the north end. Standard shiner and tip up, 3 flags at 7:30pm, two eyes - 15 and 16", released. Not many folks out there. Saw the SUV by the mill creek landing too... BDL is known for springs guys, be cautious.
