Fished the north end from 5pm-8pm on 1-9. Soft 4" of ice until you got out about 20 yards, then it was a solid 4". Fished for Walleye. All we had was one wind flag. I did see a few others get flags, but didn't see if they got any fish.

I fished this lake for catfish for the first time last summer.

I am interested in trying them through the ice. On other lakes, we fish them in deep wintering holes.

Since this lake is 7-8 ft max in depth, would the same hold true in this lake?

Should I target the deepest spots in this lake as well?

Thanks for the info in advance.

This is mainly a ice report since fishing was terrible today. Off waterworks I had 4-5" every spot I went. On hickory again I had a solid 4-5 all the way across the lake. However at hickory there is a decent size Crack that was open that I crossed. In all these spots I used a spud checking ice as I went along. Use your head check as you go and you will be fine in these areas. At fish camp there was alot of open water. Big pockets as well as small pockets of open water. I see this area being a problem area in the upcomming weeks. Be extremly carefully over here.

Had tip ups in for 12 hours yesterday/night. One flag, no fish (south end). Did not venture out too far but not a good sign. It always amazes me how this lake can be so hot/cold depending on the year(and yes location). Be careful for thin spots as some holes/areas just froze over yesterday.

BAITS MOTEL Do to all of the phone calls, we'll officially announce we are GOING OUT OF BUSINESS, so Christopher can focus on the Argo ATV Track building business. With that being said, the ice report is sketchy to say the least at this point. We will know more later this morning when more brave souls pass the information back to us. What we have heard so far, is there was 3 to 4 inches of ice yesterday at least on Emily. Puckaway has a good report on Walleyes and big Northerns. Fox Lake has some ice to fish on according to the guys getting medium and large shiners this morning. You should talk to Fish Tales for an up to the minute on that one. Beaver Dam Lake had fishable ice yesterday, and with the official Hupfs Repair thermometer reading 15 degrees this morning, you know we added an inch last night. Just don't be stupid Smile This lake will lure you out there with those beautiful perch, then kill you. Red spikes, waxies and rosie reds are hot already this morning. I would venture to say that medium shiners will top the best seller list in the late afternoon hours. We'll post specific areas later today if we can get some realistic feedback. We also plan on stocking Milwaukee Lake Shiners / Emerald Shiners in the next week. PS, if you have got any gift certificates left out there, you had better get them used up. We are not sure how long we will remain open. The building is sold, and we are marking everything down for clearance. From augers to ammo to tents, everything must go. Now go fishing and be safe. Watch out for everybody else out there too. Christopher and Carol. Baits Motel

Checked the ice depth off of waterworks and edgewater last night. 2 to 3 inches of frozen slush, not safe yet.

Checked the ice on north end. 1.5 inches of slushy wet unwalkable ice. Possibly get out Saturday if Temps stay cool and things stiffen up.

Anyone know if the parking is still restricted on Idle Hour Drive or if the field leading down to the lake still gets posted?
