Well fishing was poor for whitefish. Only left with 5. That's not the concern though. Ended breaking through the ice with my truck on the drivers side. Luckily I made it through. Screwed up my alignment. It happened coming around Henderson point coming into little sturgeon I would guess a couple hundred yards off shore. Plenty of other truck tracks there so hope nobody else finds it. The open water and current mentioned below must have came our further.

For those of you asking questions on this thread, I was out this past weekend. Ice is fine there were actually lots of trucks driving out to the deep drop for whitefish (not sure I would recommend it this coming weekend though). The fish were there for us, but catching them was a different story. Also there are a ton of smelt all over which is cool to see. Caught quite a few on the slider so if you're not catching whitefish they will keep you busy. Even caught a big smallie in 30 FOW which I thought was surprising. Anyone else catch many bass out there?
Was out today..the road referenced wrapping around Hendersons is good..but there is open water along the shore (first point with grey house inside Little Sturgs shoreline inside the bouy line) where the current opened the ice today..it is south of Clafflin park and tight to shoreline..road is within 20 yds of the compromised ice;. the ice inside the marina is still good, but there was some standing water halfway down the first dock near the fuel dock (nonconcerning amt.) Generally good ice, but be aware of the surging currents and new water cutting near shore. There are a few shallow reefs along that shoreline that forces currents up under the ice; but until now it has still been good solid ice. There were vehicles that drove around to their fishing areas off Big Rock..and a minivan that followed that road to the west end of the point and out to the heave. The heave has grown over the past week, but it is CURRENTLY pushed closed.

Hey everybody? Is the perch bite still good up in little Sturgeon? Not trying to steal anybody’s spot. More or less looking for any baits in particular or a set up that has worked in the past. Think of going Wednesday and maybe trying my luck for perch in the morning then going out deeper for the whitefish, thanks in advance!
