Glad team phillips caught something. I got zip. Most guys seemed to have 0-1 fish. A couple had 2-3, at least those that were outside on the ice. I tried 5 different spots from 19 to 43'. 7 am to 1:30. Never saw a whitefish on camera. Last spot I had either smelt or alewives or both come to look at my bait. One fish looked long and skinny like a smelt. Other looked like larger head on smaller body, like an alewive. Used # 3 jig rap in black and gold, with slider hook and waxies--0. Also #3 jig rap in glow-white-chart head with slider--0. Black tungsten jig with slider--0. I had bought some of the bait balls and tried two of them. They look like a giant alka-seltzer fizzing on the bottom. The cloud they gave off did not mess up the camera view too bad, but they wiped out the screen on the Humminbird. I turned the sensitivity as low as it would go and the screen was still almost blanked out, like chaff on radar. I don't think I could have seen a fish on the depthfinder if it had come in, with the screen so full. Minimum ice was 12", max about 16" but there is 1-2" of water on top of 80% of the ice. With the wind blowing the water around, once it cools down again the lake will be like a skating rink. Wear your creepers. About 1/2 guys walked out, 1/2 on ATV/sleds, but a couple cars were out well past the mouth of the bay.

Just outside of Little Sturgeon Bay, had a solid bite today. Tried a few set ups but the Flirty Girty jig as a slider did the trick today. Did pick a few up on the jig rap as well.
Hurry hurry, ice is going quick! Took ATV today and will again in morning but probably on foot next week. Good luck to all.
Hello & thank you for the good reports - We have 4 guys coming over from western wisconsin next week for 3 days fishing & staying right near little sturgeon. Have a 4 wheeler and a snowmobile - wondering though it it worth it bringing the snowmobile? or is it too rough and not enough snow for it now? Thanks

Quick report on conditions and action... for Whitefish around the Sturgeon Bay area. Ice is in great shape overall with 14"-20" of solid ice. But remember the currents always cause weak spots that are not 14" more. Please do use caution around landings as we move through the weekend. For the record I would strongly advise against taking Cars and Trucks and SUVs on the ice from here on out. The last few weeks I advised people that called me against it now I am STRONGLY advising against it. Please be safe.
The bite was Great Last Friday, and Saturday for me was slow especially if you lost focus on your technique while fishing. Sunday the activity picked up and Monday and Tuesday were outstanding as long as folks worked the baits correctly. :-)
My go to bait all season has still been the #3 Jigging Rap in Gold/Black and Chrome Perch, working that close to the bottom with a slider above it has been a proven Whitefish killer in the hands of someone that can work the technique. Sunday afternoon and Monday and Tuesday we had some real nice sized fish show up and several fish between 3-4 pounds were pulled up! I had my Wife out on V-Day and she managed to master the Jigging rap and crushed several nice Whitefish over 20" including 8 that she kept for me to clean.... LOL
I did have a shack open up for Friday the 17th if anyone is interested to get out. Basic rental starts at $50/person and we of course will do fully guided for $100/person - which I highly recommend as I put on a mean Johnsonville Brat fry for lunch with fully guided trips. :-)
We may also be able to accommodate a group in a shack for Saturday now also.
Give us a shout. I hope this is not our last weekend on the ice but we will be watching it very close after Sunday and I will try to keep you updated as best I can after Sunday.
