Has all the ice from Poygan and Clark's Bay to include the debris made its way through Winneconne yet or is it slop city?
Winneconne Bridge, Winnebago County
Fishing from the bridge is only permitted from the north side this year. Liability issues for the contractor of the bridge I was told. In addition, I understand there will be NO FISHING from any bridge in 2019. They'll be taking down the old one before the new "fishing bridge" goes in.
No chunks coming down at this point, put this weather has to change befoe the folks start spending time out on that span!
I believe the fin launch is/will be open. Getting there is another matter. With the construction you will need to go down several blocks then cut back across Main Street and backtrack to the launch. Using the park launch will be easier but I’m sure very busy since the fin launch is all but useless. Hope it clears up by summer.
Update on Bridge construction:
The new bridge is moving right along. However with the influx of heavy equipment and road tear up there is a detour. There is no parking along the detour route. For the upcoming walleye run this will create headaches. If you are planning on coming fishing this spring expect to walk much farther than in years past. I drove around to see what was close and was about 5 or 6 blocks from the bridge before I found a spot. There are a lot of temporary no parking signs up. Along with that there is a lot of pounding and vibrations on and near the bridge. There will only be fishing from one side of the bridge this year. These conditions and detours will be changing daily and weekly. I will post as best I can on how it’s going. It might be a good year to try steelhead or brown trout fishing. I don’t think it will be enjoyable battling all the construction. If you are planning on fishing please be patient and let others fish next to you. Good luck. No fish around yet.
