Over the past few years I've noticed the same decline in numbers of Muskies, didn't fish it much this past season. Jim

MOON PHASE (65%)
Waning Gibbous

CONDITIONS
Cloudy
Fished 3 weekends this fall with only one fish to show for it. Hands down my worst luck on the lake in over 10yrs of fishing it. I will say that musky numbers have been declining as time goes on, in my boat anyway. Has anyone done well on Siss recently? Crying

walked out from vees at about 12:45 to fish for crappies in the deep basin. forgot the computer but still managed 9 crappie in that 9 to 10 inch range. fish caught about 20 feet down. left at 2:45 to meet my bro on different part of lake to fish for walleye. he has been really slaying them out there this year. fished shallow weeds, had lots of flags. only 2 fish caught, smallmouth and a walleye. not a keeper.

Fished with 5 other guys from the 9th to the 14th. Very slow the first few days with hardly a follow up. It started to turn on the 12th with a 43 and a 46 in the boat. Both caught by guys fishing by themselves! Cabbage weed was still green and the muskies were in the shallow weeds. All the action was on live bait which we were lucky to get!

Just wanted to echo the other comments about the ice on Siss. I was out Saturday on an ATV. Pulling a 2 man portable was about all my 4-wheeler could handle getting through the snow. I never got stuck but travel was not the easiest.

Regarding ice depth: most spots had roughly 12 inches, but I drilled one hole in an area with slush that had maybe 8 inches, and it was soft ice, saturated through with water. A set of truck tracks went right through that spot. I'm thinking they were lucky to have stayed on top...

Some others drove trucks out throughout the day. I would NOT recommend it! There's enough snow that getting stuck is a real possibility, and I'd be afraid of dropping my truck through some of those slush pockets out there.

On top of that, the fishing was a bit slow. Average size of crappies were just eaters, no slabs.

Be careful out there.

Snow 12 to 18 inches. Conditions terrible for trucks. There have been two trucks going out straight in front of Vees on their own roads.I just got back driving out to the west end from Vees. I stayed on the snowmobile trail till Blueberry then headed straight west through virgin snow.If you drove off next to the trail it was tough. I could barely plow through the snow. Then about between the second and third island south of the Ridge, I hit REALLY deep slush in two different spots. I drove all the way to the west end and turned around to go back on the same trail. When I got back to the first slush spot the truck went down about six inches, at the second spot it felt like it went down a foot, and I thought I was going to go down through the ice, so I just floored it and water was spraying all over like a roostertail on a ski boat. 1989 4WD Suburban 30X10.50 BF Mud Terrain TA's WITH chains.I drove out yesterday to the middle, east of Vees, no chains to halfway between the island and the first point. Truck was chattering and jumping till I got out pretty far then the snow seemed less deep and rode smooth.Got a friend with a four wheeler he cant move in it,he has no chains though.Just a heads up report.Even if you have a snowmobile,be careful if you go off a trail. Stay close to a road that some one else has already driven on.UPDATE!!!! READ GRIZWALDS REPORT ON THE OTHER SISS THREAD. We dont need anyone to lose their life out there.

Multi-species angling today. Pretty marginal, at best.
