Yeah the derby is still on, I'll be in it for the third year now. Two years ago took first for biggest pike. Last year didn't do so good though. Good luck to all!

Njafisher I agree with you 100% there should be a area marked out over by the bar and the racers should stay in it. I both fish this lake and race my bike out their. I just want it to be fun and safe for everyone.

Thanks for that post lure maker. And I can tell you these guys were going far faster than that. And I understand its A recreational sport to them and that's fine, it shouldn't be allowed if it puts others at risk.

I could be wrong but i believe that motor vehicles can travel no faster than 5 mph within 50 ft of people or structures on the ice. I will contact the dnr to confirm. I will post what i find out.

I had been on the ice since 7 o'clock that morning. These morons showed up around noon and started riding on the one side of the lake. That's fine. But they're "track" got bigger and bigger, making one guy move finally off the spot he'd been in all morning. This guy moved all the way across the lake, and still these idiots got so close to his shack that when one fell off of his motorcycle he damn near slid right into his shack. What happens when a guy,or a motorcycle, comes slamming into somebody's shack at god only knows how fast? What if there's kids? If they want to do there little ice riding thing then fine. But mark off the little track area AND STAY IN IT. It's just stupid.

In regards to the guy who wants to take his twins fishing but is afraid of the motorcycle racers. You have to be kidding me man. For one the guys out on the lake riding are not all over the lake everywhere they stay on the area of the track. It is a big lake and there is enough room for everyone. Ice fishing is a recreation sport for you and ice racing is a recreation sport for them. As to the guy who said the racers were 15 feet from your tip ups maybe you should not setup so close to a ice track that you know is there.

Ice Depth: 4"
In regards to the motorcycles, there is a meeting at the Wheatland Town Hall on January 14, 2013 at 6:30pm to voice the communities concern. I personally would like to take my twin daughters ice fishing and not worry about four guys who have decided to turn the lake into their personal race track.

Real nice day out on the ice today, at least until the guys on motorcycles decided it was no big deal to drive about 15 feet away from our tip ups and shack. Pretty ridiculous, annoying, and just plain unsafe. Pretty much pushed us off the lake.
