I try to keep the boat in 12- 15 feet of water and pitch to the shoreline around downed trees. The crappies come near shorelines or as the jig comes down the break to deeper water. Walleyes came on the dead rods in the deeper water.

Keep a tight line!!!

MOON PHASE
Last Quarter

I've fished nekoosa maybe 4-5 times over the last couple years so it's still fairly new to me and I'm looking for a little insight.  Usually I fish mosinee to dubay or dubay dam itself if I'm on the Wisconsin but by now I'm fairly burnt out on walleyes and looking forward to some white bass.  I took Friday off with plans to be on the river both Friday and Saturday and I'm sticking to it but but with an inch of rain plus forecasted for tonight I'm a little concerned about the river being totally blown out.  At least further up towards mosinee an inch equals chocolate milk for two days.  How does nekoosa usually shape up, high water has never been an issue for me but really dirty water absolutely destroys my confidence.  If it gets too nasty I've had some luck finding clearer water below moon dam as a backup but 99.9% of the time it's a chest waders gig with the landing closed, could probably just leave my boat at home in that case.  What are your thoughts?, if you want shoot me a pm or reply and I can most definitely reciprocate the favor on other waters I have more hours on.

MOON PHASE
Last Quarter

I fished the river near Chester's Creek this morning from 8 am until 1 pm. Pitched 1/8 ounce jigs tipped with minnows tight to shoreline cover, and soaked dead rods away from shore in the channel. The bite was really good early, but slowed about noon. Finished the day with 21 walleyes, 3 "keepers" all released, and 1 26 inch slot, 19 crappies, kept 12, kept 6 nice big white bass, 1 perch, and 11 catfish that were released.

Keep a tight line!!!

CONDITIONS
Cloudy

AIR TEMP

Fished down by the paper mill off the shore last two nights and had a few small walleyes with one nice walleye and had a second big fish but did not land it. Current was faster last night than the night before. Good luck!

I have not seen or found that rock pile and glad for that. Did not know that was there. Thanks for the info. Have went up and down thru there quite a few times and not seen it that I know of. Will have to mark it when they get the buoy up for future reference.
