Never fished here before, usually fish fremont for the white bass but would like a change. Is there anywhere a guy could shore fish here? P.m. if needed. Thanks!
Wisc. River - Nekoosa (Walleyes)
Petenwell is next dam downstream. If water high there it is likely high upstream. A quick way to check water flow in this stretch is to call 715-422-3700. It gives flow rates , water temp, and how much gate is open for dams from Dubay to rapids. It is a daily recording. Can extrapolate the info for next few dams and get an idea for the flow headed south. River appears to have crested. Flow was 36,000 cubic feet per second 2 days ago. Is about 23000 now at Dubay but over 30000 in rapids.

i had a water temp today of 58.3. Everyone is catching whitebass all over the river. I caught mostly smaller males but did get a few large females that didn't drop yet. I was pulling flies up river on a 3 way .8 to 1 mph seem to work the best. I also pitched 1/8 oz jig n minnow behind downed trees, very little current.

White bass are being caught throughout the river. Most of the white bass are smaller males, with a few fat females. Down river between the boat launches have been the best bite with them working there way back to the lake.
Guys fishing from shore, fish the park area and north over rocks. Still a few walleyes there and with warmer temps the smallies should turn on soon.
Help ... help ...
I'll be in Nekoosa May 22,23,24 for work and a buddy and I want to fish from shore for Walleye and possibly smallmouth. Probably fish from 3:30pm to 9pm. My buddy has never been fishing before and I've never been to nekoosa. Any one have tips on how and what to use to shore fish eyes and what bait shop to go to? Anything would be much appreciated.
Also ... I see the Walleye run is in April , will there still be eyes by the dam?
