Took the gf out tonight for a couple hours after a steak dinner. She didn't get anything. Sad I got about a dozen short walleyes. I only tossed plastics and a couple cranks. There were a few guys next to me using minnows that had a cooler full of white bass. Looked like one guy was using jigs and the other was floating a bobber on a long cane pole. Lots of rough fish surfacing at dark. Hopefully the boat is going good for me Saturday. Can't wait to get out on the lake.

Fished 5 of the last 7 days (skipped Sun/Mon). Averaged 30 fish per day in the river with about 90% being small eyes. A few WB with a bunch of cats in the mix.

Most of my fishing was between plank and 10 mile creek. I did try up by the park this morning for a bit, but didn't get a bite so headed down to my usual spots and finished with 35 fish today.

Sorry for the late report... Went Tuesday from shore in the park. Started with plastics working right in the trees and caught one little walleye. Moved a little further down the shore and started pitching jigs and minnows. Lots of white bass. They were surprisingly picky on the color of the jig. Orange and yellow 1/8th ounce. Nothing on any other color. Did get a few on #5 rippin raps in fire tiger color pattern. Ended the day with about 30 wb, 5 small walleyes, a few goats, a cat, and a smallie. All the wb were males and milting. No crappies yet. Might try to go down after dinner.

The white bass have moved in in big numbers! Last 2 days has been a blast catching white bass. Early morning and late evening has been the best up tight to shore. Mid day they have been moving out to deeper water.

Few guys have been casting small spinners,Others are casting 3 ways and flies snap jigging then back towards shore. We have been catching most of our fish on blade baits (Echotails)from vibrations tackle.

Catfish have really turned with all the warm weather over the weekend.

Walleyes are being caught. Most of them under 14 inches. Few keepers and slots.

Talked with the DNR as the were schocking fish today. The said the white bass are all over spawning. Alot of the males are milking like crazy! While i was talking with them they weighed and measured a few nice smallies. They also measured, weighed and put a micro chip under 17 different sturgeon they had in the tank. Sounds like down the road there mite be a hook and line season for the big bottom feeders! Big Smile Big Smile

Hittin' the Mighty Wisconsin River on Saturday AM with my sister and brother-in-law. Have shoreline fished Nekoosa A LOT the past three summers, but droppin' the boat in the drink for the first time this late April weekend. Any thoughts on helping me to help my sis and her husband have a fishing good time, shoot me a PM. Got jigs, spoons, spinners, cranks + minnows and crawlers, Any helpful depth/ structure hints would be helpful...

Thanks so much!

Ralph

Was out from 7-1 on Saturday. fished up river from Chester Creek. Had a pretty good day. between two of us we landed 60 walleyes and 1 catfish. All were caught on minnows. It seemed like they preferred the larger shiners over the fatheads. Even when the shiners were dead. Caught most of our fish anchored just out from timber. Best action was before all the boat traffic hit at around 10 am. Ended with 3 legal walleye (lost another at the boat). All were males and were milting all over the boat. Good luck to all.

Fished Friday from the second landing to the dam, slow up towards the dam but lots of short males downriver, fished the shore opposite the slough above the second landing in 10 fow. Ended up with a limit of 15-1/8 to 15-1/2" fish but only at the expense of 3 scoops of very brave fatheads. Fished another section of the river Saturday with nearly a carbon copy performance with the exception being slightly larger short fish and finished with five 15-1/4 to 16 inch keepers. Not a single female empty or full out of approx 125 fish over the two days and only one non walleye species being a small shovelnose sturgeon. I know nekoosa got an initial wave of larger fish but the other section I hit never really got rolling and with 60 deg surface temps in some of the side channels I hit and upper 50s in the river proper I would have expected landing at least a fair amount of females either pre or post spawn. On a side note I've never had a trip on the Wisconsin where I felt minnows were really crucial until this weekend, usually gulp, hair, blades or plastics work fine but I'm definitely happy I brought live bait. By the way dud anyone find the WB, I'll prob be back with my wife this coming weekend, she's not a fan of the eyeballs, treats em like the other woman in the relationship but she likes catching the whitebass.

Was out on a guide trip Saturday. Started jigging down from second boat launch. Did have quite a few fish but small. Moved back up to above first launch and trolled cranks shallow. Fast action with most being small. Did manage a few to keep. Moved out to the lake to do some rigging. Great move. Fish were active with 2 24s,1 26.5 . Constant action with small fish and a few to keep. Had water temp on north end of the lake at 59.

Fished several hours this morning several miles downstream from the dam with top guide justin Kohn. Caught a pile of shorts, one 18" female with a hard belly full of eggs and one 24" female spawned out. Most fish came on 1/4 oz. jig and mud minnow. Fish are pretty much done spawning and will be sliding back down into Pete over the next week or so
