Fish this evening looking for some spots for this weekends guide trips.Water temp was 66 in the river tonight. Guys if you want white bass they are on fire!! Find slack water tight to the bank. Ened up catching a bunch of short walleyes, few crappies and all the white bass you want. Jigs with ringworms,or gulp worked the best. Be safe this holiday weekend and catch some fish Big Smile

Hit the river this last week. Whitebass are loaded near shore in shallow slack water. Crappies are present when you can get past the whitebass. Gulp on any color jig worked for us as well as most small plastics and tiny crappie minnows on 1/32 ounce jigs of any color.

One day we got checked by the warden. The contact was positive and professional. He did almost drop one of our walleyes in the water when he was attempting to measure it however he was able to get it secured in a head lock on the bow of the boat. I'm pretty sure he was more concerned about it not getting away than we were do to his effort in recapturing it as it flopped toward the edge of the boat. The whole deal was worthy of a good laugh. NOTE: This is a good time to get the kids out fishing so they can get some action.

Good luck to all.

I second the comment about the carp and cats being of a larger scale issue.

About the spell check.... in the military, a lot of us call it operator head-space and timing...

River report 5-16-14. Water flows and level remain high. One gate wide open with water coming over the top of the dam where the boards broke out. Water temp was 57 degrees this morning. White bass have been biting for two weeks but high water and flows have made fishing tough. Find slack water and you find some fish. The flows have the white bass all up and down the river instead of just by the dam. They are here but you will have to work for them.

If anything needs removing it is the Kitties and Carp. Have never caught a LMB in the river or Petenwell since I started fishing there.

I don't think it's a "spell-check" problem

Herb74 - The idea that we need to take musky and largemouth bass out of petenwell makes little sense if any at all. The lake is chuck full of panfish and the musky population is a low density one and the largemouth bass pop is barely existent. The predator fish are key in keeping balance in a lake system and luckily petenwell is productive enough where that balance can be flexible. That is one reason the majority of the lakes suck ass for quality size panfish. Too many large game fish removed and imbalance being created.

And I also second the spellcheck comment

Herb74 There is a "check spelling" button when you post a report. You should try it. Takes some effort to figure out what you are saying.

Was out today from 9am to noon. A mix bag of walleyes and white bass. No keeper walleyes all small males. The white bass were all males too. Water temp 56.7 I think this weekend and next week will be the white bass run.
