Conditions: Partly Sunny
I fished Rock Lake while a friend of mine fished this lake; they didn't get a single bite in 4 hours. We also didn't find anything to bite on our lures; threw everything in the book at them and fished until 7:30pm.

A lot of run off is keeping the temp way down on these small lakes. Sad

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 20"
I drove in at Birch Point and searched around til I found a deeper area on the south end. Lots of crappie and gills and they bit fairly good. Took a while to find them though, and they were mostly small dinks. I was the only one out there.

Does anyone know if there is an ice fishing contest tomorrow on Marsh-Miller lake? If so, what time does it start?

Doing a comprehensive study is always a good idea. Other things that can have an impact are an increase in weed growth which makes it harder for predators to find their prey, or even just a couple of years with ideal conditions for minnow reproduction. If enough people contact the DNR with their concerns they will get out there and look things over.

I think on all the more pressured big bodies of water each one should be studied and they should setup a limit for each lake. Minimum length on northerns and bass and a 15 bag limit of panfish.

I would say this rings true for the quality of Pike on Miller Dam as well. My buddy and I caught probably 50 shiners one afternoon and we could catch 15-20 pike a day on the north side of the lake and now we dont even bother. Caught a bunch of shiners on prairie on tuesday as well.
