It is plenty cold but I'm afraid the wind is keeping the IL harbors open. Haven't been down there to check it out myself but past experience suggests so. Hopefully the wind dies down soon because the forecast looks good and ice builds quick when highs stay under 20.

I have my boat and did alot of fishing on the rivers and inland lakes. Did pretty good. Next season I want to exspand my fishing areas. I want to fish the near shore waters of lake Mich. I need someone that has fished it before that know where and when to caught the fish. I do not have down riggers yet but am planing put them on my boat and get the tackle we will need over thhe winter. If you know the near shhhore fishing of the south west part of the lake E-mail me and let get started on this together. I am going to buy what we need all I need from you is your time on the water to fish and your know how Let get out have fun and caught the fish. bco-michael@att.net

Talked to Luv2fish and he say's he's getting perch in his Smelt nets. Released of course but if one was to head down to Montrose harbor sounds like they could do decent. Seen another guy posted the same. No smelt by luv2fish yet though. Too early or too Late? Wondering

I had few 7" 8" inchers. Most were a small ones. Fished for 2h non-stop action. I'll hit Belmont on Sat and Montrose on Sun, if temp will be in My range. Big Smile

Thankyou Grubs.... I hope you had some success. I have never fished Montrose. I have been very lucky at Belmont before. I used to fish Henrys derby every year. I am not sure if they still hold it though. Last year we caught alot of small perch and a few bluegill at Belmont. Not very many sizable fish. Had a camera down there and saw alot of big largemouth bass chasing the perch around, even saw a northern down there. It was really neat with the camera. The huge schools of perch would move in and the bass would be right behind them.Literally chasing them down right in front of the camera. Good luck .. Tight Lines...
