Fished lutz park this afternoon for two hours. It was a waste of time and will continue to be so until water levels rise in the inner channel. It may still be ok for catfishing at night.
Water is very shallow in many areas with little current. There is a lot of garbage in the water including snarls of cut lines in various spots. There were a lot of people all with the same rigs consisting of red and white nobber split shot and hook with a small piece of crawler. Saw one sunfish caught. about 3 inches long and one small freshwater drum several inches long. No one else caught anything. About 15 people were fishing.
I was pitching jigs into current seams and eddies as well as swimming grubs and working spinnerbaits and fancasting deeper areas. Nothing in 2 hours. The water is very clear and I did observe hordes of freshwater drum feeding in the inner and outer channels as well as scattered fry, minnows and the occasional tiny sunfish pick insects off the water.
Its a zoo down there currently with too many disrespectful people and amateurs with cheap bobber rigs. Lots of loose dogs as well as people not respecting personal space or where you're fishing. People climbing out on islands and lots of people acting stupid.
Any worthwhile game fish has moved to deeper water until current rises at least a foot or more.
Don't waste your time.
Anyone catching any decent panfish action anywhere? PM me. Thanks.
