It does look like a lamprey bite. Now that would be bad news.... I'm pretty sure we don't have any in the lake, but I guess you never can tell.

Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 46° - 50° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Got out this morning for a couple hours before the rain came in, not much to brag about. Three pike 21",24",and 32" All fish came on jig and crawler while drifting weed lines. One fish had a crazy looking scar/sore on its head, never seen anything like it before.

I was bowfishing late in the fall here last year and I chased a lake trout around the far south end bay for about 20 min. I wanted to make absolutely sure that it was a laker because I know they are fairly rare in this lake. It was about 26 inches long and healthy, but not overly large for this species.

If I was going to fish for them I would be out in deeper water with down riggers, 40-120 feet and trolling with 3-5" silver spoons like a Sutton Spoon, Mooseleuk Wobbler or Acme Flash King. These are proven fish catching lures across the northern states.

If you are inclined to jig, I would use a Swedish Pimple with minnow parts attached, or a lead head jig with a swimming tail body.

I wouldn't expect great laker action (if any) on this body of water, but who knows, right? You can apply these tips to any lake trout water with success (Big Green ;))

The last of the walleye fry were released Friday May 10, 2013

The fry were released in an area that has 60' of water depth and will remain in the upper 24" from the surface forging for plankton and then over time, move on to other food sources.

To answer a previous question regarding Lake Trout. The DNR has not stocked Lake Trout since the early 2000's The reason: not enough anglers targeting Lake Trout.

I will be stocking Extended Growth Walleye Fingerlings tomorrow, Thursday at 10:00 am. These Walleyes were donated by Lee Durow. If you know Lee Durow give him a big "Thank You"

These are the final stages of walleye hatching at the portable fish hatchery. When all walleye have hatched, then the fry will be released in the middle of the lake.

I like to thank the people who attended the water resource lecture at UWWC this past Monday. My lecture was focused on the efforts of Walleyes for Tomorrow Washington County and Big Cedar Lake Thursday Night Fishing Club.

Fished last night 5pm to 9pm mostly on the north end dragging suckers. I lost 2 fish again. I saw a carp boat start out right when I was done, hope he got some. I saw about 5 carp in shallow water(3-8fow) just east of the small island with one house on it, right before the narrows. One was pretty huge. Anyone getting any good sized pike? Or see any? They are not in the places I normally get them this time of year.
