Ice Depth: 13" Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 36° - 40° F
Thought we would head out for another day on the lake. Tried a new spot, and ended up with one perch about 6" long. We worked some drop off edges in about 15 fow. Not too much more happened today, but the weather was nice. That was a plus.

Green/yellow jig with spike.

Well, for lamens terms I just call it an island. I'm sure there really is no land to it, rather just a cattail marsh, but for this "island" to stay in place since AT LEAST August 1967 (dated on DNR depth map) without moving a bit, I can call it an island. Marshes move. Islands...not too much.

You guys sure you are on Denoon? My brother has lived on that lake for 40 years and I've never come across an island!

FISHING REPORT
12/24/10 6:39 PM CST
Ice Depth: 12"
Went out for another attempt today. Fished right by the island again, targeting pike mostly while looking around for holes that would hold some panfish. No panfish, but we did got 3 for 4 on the pike. Biggest was about 23" or so, and the others were right around 21" (I am saying about because our ruler only went to 20"). We were using medium/large shiners. Asked for half doz at R&R and they gave us 13. That's a deal.

The pike were hitting the bait, and doing so HARD. Our flag would fly up, and each was screaming the line out. If we didn't get to the tip ups as fast as we did, might not have caught the fish!

For all the trips I've made out here, the panfish bite has been horrible. Pike have been the only fish I've caught out of this lake. I look to finally catch some crappie or bluegill from here later in the year if the bite gets better.

Ice Depth: 12" Conditions: Sleeting Air Temp: 36° - 40° F
First time out here, plenty of ice, at least 12in. went straight out from the launch towards the island for three hours fishing from 2-10 fow, absolutly nothing jigging. Used jumbos on my tip ups, got one 24in. pike in 8 fow and when i was pulling the tip ups i had one in 2 feet and could see a little pike picking the jumbo up and spitting it out several times, he was very small. I think mediums are the way to go out here. Decent amount of people out didnt see or hear anybody else doing much either.

Ice Depth: 12" Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 31° - 35° F
Went out today about 12-4. Tried jigging all over, and couldn't get any fish to really come for it. We set our tip ups out by the island, and within 15 minutes of each other, we went 2 for 3 on pike. Medium shiners were the ticket.

Beautiful day to be out, and ice was very thick, considering it was only 6 inches last time I was out. I'm looking to get some panfish action sooner or later. Would really like to break in my jigging rod!

At the ramp, we did not check the ice. When we got there, the ice was all solid and right outside the ramp we punched a hole and found about 7 inches. The ice inside the little channel leading to the ramp seemed solid when we went out, but when we came back, there was a large area that was all slush. If I had to guess, pre-slush it was about 6 inches too. I stomped on it and it seemed thick.

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 6" Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 11° - 15° F
Friend and I headed out for the first time this year. This was my first time on the ice, ever. I have to admit it was a bit scary at first, but I got used to it as time went on.

The entire lake, a far as we went from launch, along the shore left of the launch, and towards the island, it was a consistent 6" of ice all over.

We forgot our tip ups at home, and were using only our jigging rods in the shanty. Not even a nibble. However, it was just a nice day to be out there and drill some holes in the ice.

I can't wait until the ice is a little bit thicker, and my first fish through the ice.
