anybody know if the lake is open off of the county landing to the west under bridge street. Last year it took awhile for this to thaw but it is moving water. Thanks

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 24"
Went out to fish the dead sea. It was dead alright! Our group fished two different areas along Hy DB. First spot never marked a fish, second spot marked a handful but no takers. Last gasp we tried by the county park, 2 flags and nothing. It was great weather though. Did find a thin spot in the ice by a bridge. one spot had the auger buried and ten feet away only 6 inches at most.

We fished off the landing at the park off HWY E today and moved all over the bay, drilled lots of holes... and it was like the dead sea. Of 4 guys: 7 tip ups and all jigging I was the only one to even mark a fish (which did not bite). Suckers, shiners, fatheads and waxies. Spoons, raps and jigs. Denied. In the past we've done well there, too. Not today. Had the place to ourselves though.('Big Smile')

You don't need to drive onto the ice, but it was probably 28-30" thick. I WOULD recommend ice cleats/creepers, especially if it rains/melts etc. It was mighty slick out there!

Never the less, it should be nice this weekend. Good luck! Big Smile

"Looking to take my two boys(4&6) ice fishing for the first time."

I've seen just a handful people on the ice in the last few weeks. I drive by almost every day. Only one person yesterday. Taking youngsters out this late is iffy at best. I wouldn't do it myself. JMHO.

Looking to take my two boys(4&6) ice fishing for the first time. I was thinking of going off of the landing by the park and fishing in that general area.(I've caught small perch there a few years ago). I am not planning on driving on the ice so we would be within walking distance of the landing. Can someone give any info as if it is a safe area to fish with two young kids this time of the year? I don't care if we don't catch anything, they just want to go out and see what it's all about. My priority is making sure it's a safe area. Any ice condition information for that area is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Went out yesterday afternoon 1-6. Managed 1 crappie in 15 feet of water right off the bridge by the Tiki Bar. Missed 4 or 5 more. Fish hit from 5-6 and then shut off. Glow jigs with spikes or jigging spoons with minnow heads.

If you are looking for a way off, look on the Lake Alice thread. Look for Tucker Sno Cat. His email is in the top three posts. Not sure where he is from but he was heading up to Lake Alice to pull shacks off for people. Shoot him an email, maybe catch him on his way home.

Was out today for a bit until the wind got the best of me trying to hold down the portable shack. Fishing was slow. However before I even drilled a hole, I spent about a half an hour picking up garbage on the Ice. I understand that there was a tourney this weekend but cmon guys this is ridiculous! All the damn beer/pop cans and chip bags all over the Ice. Well I picked up your mess just because I can't stand laziness people who apparently still their mother to tell them to pick up after yourselves. It's people like you who give "true sportsman" a bad name. Anyways good luck to all the "true sportsman" out there!
