You just have to know WHAT you're fishing for. I've caught a few smallest in years past. Not as outstanding as the other day, but we've caught them. In 50 years of fishing this lake ,legend, you should know by looking at the background in my pics that this IS Whitewater.

When did the DNR stock smallies in here?  Over 50 years of fishing the lake I’ve not seen them and you got 10 in one day………seems strange

Sloooow day on the water today. Had two largies on but lost both. Water temp 73-75 and I’m happy to report that the weeds are plentiful unlike last season!

This is my first year fishing the lake. So far, we have been enjoying the size of the bass. we have close to a dozen over 3 Ibs. with the biggest 3-10. I caught a 3-6 on the 4th at 3pm in the heavy wake.

hoss, 20 years ago WW was the best lake in the state for bass.  You could get a 20” fish every time out.  It’s pretty much been poisoned to death since then.  Wake boat and power boat homeowners have pushed weed removal/spraying non stop.  The lake is kn trouble and the DNR does not care.

Points
Was out on Tuesday from 6a - 11a.  Planned to do some topwater largemouth fishing.  The water temp was 74 - 77 degrees.  Could not find any emergent weeds/lily pads to fish.  The lake was very dirty and eerily devoid of weeds.  Ended up with a few small pike and a 2.5 lb largemouth on a blue/chartruse shallow crank bait and a green pumpkin swim jig and trailer.

I have fished this lake successfully many times over the last several years.  The quality of fishing here has steadily gone down hill.  I witnessed a weed killer application last year.  Seems this lake is managed for the skiers and not the fisherman.  What a shame.

Fished 05-09 and with the high skies and no wind made the conditions tough.  Only managed two pike, one walleye, and one largie.  Water temp was 58-62 and the carp were up shallow under about every lay down I tried for crappie. Never knew this lake had so many carp.  Also saw a few bass cruising shallow.
