Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 61° - 65° F
Fished late morning until 6pm on 4/18. Got one small northern and one big carp -- very slow. Fished from the launch to the dam, and went south of the launch to about 1/2 mile past the last buoy.

Maybe next weekend...

Was out yesterday by the dam. No walleye. White bass are spotty. My spot had yellow perch. Caught a few between 5"-10", bigger ones on minnows and smaller on worm. Only two small females full of eggs - still swimming. The rest were milking males.

Got a small pike on a purple fly. Huge 5-6 feet sturgeon on a night crawler, but my 6lb line broke after a 5 minutes battle(very one sided). First time seeing a sturgeon jump out of the water that high - full body out of water, beautiful creature.

The white bass are in there but they are just picky...warmer temperature will boost their feeding ..i went out sat and didn't catch much untill 6pm ..found a school and caught over 60 all on flies ..give it a few more warmer weather to warm up the water and its on ..photo from sat ..

Fished today from dawn to about 2 pm. Covered the river from Omro to the dam and caught 5 white bass and 3 or 4 carp. The water was up from were it had been but still is low for this time of year. Talked to some folks and it looks like the walleye run was a bust and with this low water the white bass run may not be so hot either. The water was low but running dirty. A chartreuse jig disappeared a couple of inches down.

those signs stay up YEAR ROUND. You cannot fish in the refuge area until the opening day of regular season. Usually the first Saturday of may.

Hello all, I was out here today from about noon until3:30pm. Fishing for Walleye but, no luck. I did manage 8 mid sized carp (snagged), and 3 carp caught. All were released. I was casting below the dam as the ice is all gone except for a little bit in the channels leading into the river. Not sure how thick it is though. It looked dark. It was just a nice day to be out.

Inside the wire is open n the No wake stops at the last bouy. No the river is not no wake it is high but it's normally high. Any respectful boater would have enough common sense to not open it up the last 300 yards from the last bouy to the dam. Whites are still hitting throughout river a boat is extremely helpful. Good luck to all

They really need some garbage cans here. I picked up 4 bags of garbage but there's nowhere to throw them. I had the camping stuff in the truck so I wasn't putting it in there. If there where garbage cans I probably would've picked up almost all of the trash. I'm sure there would be less garbage to begin with if there was somewhere to throw it. The parking lot looks like people just pulled in and emptied there entire car of all the garbage. It's a privilege to fish here not a right. Please don't ruin it for everyone else!

As for fishing me and my buddy tried many lures and live bait. Caught a few white bass, a couple small cats, and some sheepies. Water is extremely high and quite cold. Was kind of a wasted trip. Oh well nice to get away for a couple days.

The refuge signs are still up. I called the DNR. To ask if it was still closed and was told it should be open, they may have forgotten to take the signs down. The two people that answered me didn't give me a 100% sure answer. Whatever.

Isn't the entire river slow no wake right now being so high? Isn't there a no wake area somewhere here? I thought there was but couldn't read the buoy. Boats where just blowing by. Making 3+ ft wake. Angry

First off I want to thank the 2 gentlemen that pulled me into omro after my gas line fitting broke. Also I would like to thank a gentlemen by the name of L.J. for taking me to Oshkosh to pick up the part. With out great men like that I would have literally been up the creek with out a paddle as one of mine broke today. On the brighter side fishing was good. I got out at 4am targeting walleye. Caught one 15lb catfish. at sun up targeted white bass I did manage to fill a cooler with 3 guys. The dam was the most productive spot. Fished from the dam all the way to omro very tuff fishing away from the dam. Sizes ranged from real big to small. All smaller ones were thrown back for next year. Again Thanks to everyone that helped me out today.
