FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 14" Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 31° - 35° F
If you video taped our fishing trip this past Saturday on Stacks Bay you would have won the big prize on American's Funniest Home Video's.

We caught 20 nice Bluegills until 2 pm when my brand new Clam 6x6 hub shack blew away. With 6 tip downs and tips ups in the path of the runaway shanty I was lucky when it didn't touch one of them. Several of the rods snapped so I don't think I'll be buying another hub shack.

Besides the panfish we had 6 flags, all runners except a bass. I missed the spot by a few yards. We were in 10'8" of water off of a rock pile across from the boat landing.

Thanks to the guys who offered to pull my ATV out the knee deep snow. Going was good except in the virgin snow. Thanks to the guy who offered to show us the river channel that runs through the lake.

Good Luck to all !

Hi, a few buddies and I are planning a trip up to this lake this weekend. We know nothing about it and have never fished here. We're looking to fish out infront of the beacons hotel. I've heard about a drop off out there and I would like some tips on exactly how far out it is and what depths we should be looking for. And what we could expect to catch on tip-ups. Feel free to PM me with info! Thanks in advance! Cool

Verified as a northern pike. I know where he lives. Maybe I can go back when he grows up !

I catch pike like that all the time on the Minocqua chain. In fact I'd say 50% of the pike I catch are plain green no spots, stripes or anything up there. Only place in WI I get 'em like that...

First time on the computer since returning from 10 days up north. Just want to say thank you to the father/son who tried to push my car back onto solid snow pack after I buried it on the side of a snowmobile trail on stacks bay last Monday. Another couple came by with a four wheeler and were able to get my vehicle safely pulled onto better sno pack. I guess after seeing other vehicles on the ice I felt my 4WD should've been able to handle this. Ugh

Unlikely that the "hatcheries up there" are stocking anything in the Minocqua chain other than muskie or walleyes. Lack of stripes says it's not a pike x musky hybrid, and there are no pickerel in the Midwest. I believe it is a Northern Pike with a color mutation. Mutations are naturally occurring. It may be considered a "Silver Pike", which is a naturally occurring mutation of a typical pike.

One weird looking pike for sure! Makes you wonder what they are breeding at the fish hatchery up there?

really looks like a pickerel or some type of hybrid pike might just be a old pickerel.
