I had a overall great opener, filled the freezer with a gallon bag and a half caught 5 walleye trolling the middle of the lake than i jigged and caught 10 crappies than evening, Sunday morning i had 3 bass by the river and 1 pike. I tried the shallows and the deep spots and found the deeper areas were best.

First… , are there any walleyes in Post Lake? Anyone who can shed light on this question would be great.

Ok now to my report. Opening weekend weather wise was fantastic, too bad the fishing for us was a complete bust. We fished morning/night, shallow & "deep", structure & flats, live bait, plastics, cranks and multiple colors… and had boated one 11" walleye. I love going up to the cottage but fishing for walleyes on this lake might not be a choice anymore. I hope others will post something about the opener or their thoughts on the walleye situation on upper & lower Post.

MOON PHASE
First Quarter
I've been fishing this lake for a long bit of time.

Few reports on this lake in winter. What I know is 5 northern over 30 inches caught in derby. Pretty good...all on upper post.

Here's some winter info.

Wanna catch a lot of fish. Small in size but numbers. Fish outside the campsite. You wanna catch bigger panfish go to upper post. Not as easy but they are there. Just have to find them. Northern are all over upper. Just need to get lucky once in awhile.

Hope that helps

Have never fished Upper/Lower Post before. Just a general question seeking confirmation. All topo maps I have viewed give Upper Post a maximum depth of 14-15 fow. However, my Navionics app gives a maximum depth of 20 fow throughout the main basin. Any confirmation? Thank you.

The 2015 Post Lake ice fishing jamboree is going to be February 21st not February 14th as indicated on the Langlade Co. web page. The Langlade County web page is incorrect. Contact Kathy Katch at 715-275-4610 if you have any questions.

The tubes is located in the upper NW side of upper post lake. Houses on the left, a channel (50 yds wide) that goes to the tubes that go under a road (Pratt) I believe but not sure. Then a weed/wood structure on the right as well. I have fished Upper/Lower every Memorial weekend for the last 33 years. Lots of Pike through the ice there but last few years not much size but action. Crappie action on this lake can be awesome and this location or NE side by the mouth of the river also.

Good luck.

I will be taking a trip up to the crandon area to do some pike fishing this winter. I will be fishing mostly pickerel lake and rolling stone, but would love to try it here as well to have a chance at some decent size pike. If anyone could give me info on an area on post lake, upper or lower, to target for pike and possibly crappie. I have read back to 2008 on lake-link and I see a lot of people refer to the tubes, could anyone give me information on where this is? Thank you so much! feel free to pm me.

Was up for the week last week and fishing was fantastic. Crappies drifting almost anywhere on upper post using twister tails. Sometimes drifted and sometimes trolled slowly.

Spent one afternoon fishing for northerns on lower post (actually 2 hours) and caught and released 35 northerns trolling spinner baits. All fish were under the 26" mark but the girls had fun reeling them up.

Also heard the bluegill bite was good on lower post but did not personally go for bluegills while I was up there.

Water temperature 69-71 degrees

Went fishing with my buddy Tom. Picked up another 19"er. on lower. Weeds aren't bad this year. Lots of opportunity on the west shore. They are lovin the top waters.
